Yamabito Music FestivalSat 9/20 – Sun 9/21, Gunma Prefecture
The Gunma Rock Festival, which was held for three years starting in 2011, has been reborn as “Yamabito Ongakusai.” The central driving force behind the event is G-FREAK FACTORY, and the title “Yamabito” (mountain folk) was chosen to evoke Gunma Prefecture’s mountains: Mt. Akagi, Mt. Haruna, and Mt. Myogi.

KOYABU SONICSat 9/13–Mon 9/15, Osaka Prefecture
Koyabu Sonic is hosted by Chihiro Koyabu, a hugely popular TV personality known for Yoshimoto Shinkigeki. The event will take place over three days using Halls 2 and 5 at Intex Osaka. In addition to performances by the Yoshimoto Shinkigekis band—formed by Yoshimoto comedians who are expanding their activities across the country—many comedian stages are also planned.

Black Fest: The Monochrome Singing ContestSat, Sep 6, Tokyo Metropolis
Calling himself a “walking melanin pigment,” Shigeru Matsuzaki has finally named the event he organizes “Kuro-Fes” (Black Fest). Not only bands, enka singers, and idols he’s close with, but even impressionists are on the lineup. There’s no festival other than Kuro-Fes that people of all ages can enjoy! If you like even one of the artists, you can’t miss such a star-studded lineup!

1CHANCE FESTIVALSat 9/6 – Sun 9/7, Kumamoto Prefecture
This is an outdoor festival hosted by WANIMA, the popular three-piece rock band known for doing commercials and theme songs. Holding a festival they run themselves in their hometown of Kumamoto is a long-awaited event for both the band and their fans! I can’t wait to see which of their close-connected bands will be on the lineup. It’s a must-see event for fans who want to fully enjoy both music and Kumamoto. If you’re visiting Kumamoto for the first time, be sure to set aside plenty of time and go have fun!

Samurai Rock FestSat, Aug 30, Kyoto Prefecture

A Samurai Rock Festival broadcast from the historic city of Kyoto! Naturally, it’s hosted by Kyoto’s own rock band, Inuningennyonzu. Even the stages have unique names like “Dog’s Death,” “Exposed Head,” and “Seppuku”! Look forward to the samurai who have gathered in Kyoto, with a declaration of war kicking things off!
