au BLUE CHALLENGE 'Full-Power Aida' Version

Opera Aida 'Triumphal March'Shota Matsuda, Kenta Kiritani, Gaku Hamada, Kasumi Arimura, Nanao, Masaki Suda, Rina Kawaei

Shota Matsuda, Kasumi Arimura, and other Santaro members “wholeheartedly support” Japan’s national soccer team; new au BLUE CHALLENGE commercial released featuring them humming “Aida.”

KDDI’s commercial, “Zenryoku Aida” (Full-Power Aida), supports Japan’s national soccer team.

When it comes to soccer, this is the song—hearing it instantly brings the sport to mind.

Its official title is the “Triumphal March,” the second piece in Act II of the opera Aida.

Even though the vocals are basically just “Oh,” it’s incredibly catchy and stirs your fighting spirit.

You might not know the opera, but this one track conjures up the soccer pitch in your mind.

It’s classical music, but it’s become inseparable from soccer.

This is the first digital-only single by WANIMA, a three-piece rock band from Kumamoto Prefecture.

The song was featured in au’s popular “Santaro” commercial series, in the Spring “Yatte Minayo (Give It a Try)” edition.

Since it’s a cover of the English folk song ‘Picnic,’ many listeners may find the melody familiar from their childhood.

Even as a folk cover, it’s packed with WANIMA’s signature appeal, including beautiful choral work and a fast-paced arrangement.

Santarō Series: 'Go! That Way!' Version

Go! That way!Japanese rice bran

The RPG-style presentation makes a strong impression in au’s Santaro series commercial, “Go! That Way!”, which features singer-songwriter Wanuka’s song “Susume! Sotchi da!” Released digitally in 2022, the track conveys the idea that the road called life is yours to choose—go wherever you like and just enjoy it.

If a path doesn’t feel right, you can turn back and take another one; every path can be the right one.

This message will give you a push when you’re unsure about life’s choices.

The commercial “Marathon Training” from the Overly Conscious! Takasugi-kun series, starring Ryunosuke Kamiki, Taishi Nakagawa, and Nanase Nishino, features Schubert’s Ave Maria, arranged by Yuko Ishii, who has worked on numerous commercial songs.

In the second half of the ad, the piece plays with a mood that seems to extol the product.

Although the piece prominently bears Schubert’s name, it is actually his musical setting of a poem from The Lady of the Lake by another poet.

Its pure, beautiful melody offers a soothing experience to listeners, even within the short span of a commercial.

Santaro Series: 'Minna tte Everyone!' Edition

Everyone is 'Every One'!Thumbelina (Elaiza Ikeda)

Elaiza Ikeda sings in the au Santaro New Year commercial! “Everyone is Everyone!” version

The song featured in au’s first commercial released in 2021.

Many people were likely surprised by Elaiza Ikeda’s vocals—clear yet powerful—who, while active as an actress and fashion model, plays Thumbelina in the ad.

The message that everyone may seem the same yet each person has their own individuality perfectly matches the concept of the commercial, with au meaning “hero.” The TV spot uses a short version, but it’s a track you should definitely listen to in full.

[au Santaro] Momotaro is confused… What does “cheering on the cheering” even mean!? New CM: ‘We Want to Support the Support’

In the Santaro-series au Ouen-wari commercial “We Want to Cheer on the Cheering,” a cover of the British military march “The British Grenadiers” is used.

While the original has a powerful tone that praises the army’s bravery, the version arranged by music producer and composer Katsuya Yamada for the CM has a softer feel.

Carried by a snare rhythm, the melody is played with a light flute timbre.

As the bass and other instruments join, the latter half gradually gains in boldness, yet overall it unfolds with a pop sensibility that matches the commercial’s comedic vibe.

Always Mouri Shuto

The song chosen for au’s 2021 autumn commercial was Zutto Motto, performed by Mori Shuto, a popular sibling duo on TikTok.

In the 2021 autumn “Connecting Song” edition, a new character called Momo-hime, the child of Momotaro played by Shota Matsuda and Princess Kaguya played by Kasumi Arimura, made her first appearance.

Zutto Motto is an upbeat, happy track that perfectly matches the friendly, cheerful atmosphere of the commercial.

In September 2021, the full version of the commercial was released on YouTube, and the song became available for streaming.
