HOTARU Fes is a music festival held in Hokubo, Maniwa City—home to the world’s most fireflies. Organized by local music and event enthusiasts, it takes place every June when the fireflies dance. Musicians from a variety of genres, as well as food vendors, workshops, and art from in and outside Okayama Prefecture, gather with Maniwa at the center, creating a festival that people of all ages—from small children to adults—can enjoy all day. You can let loose to live music, enjoy delicious meals and sweets, and take part in workshops or get a portrait drawn. After enjoying HOTARU Fes, be moved by the breathtaking display of Hokubo’s world-leading firefly swarms.
