List of indie festivals nationwide [2025–2026]

When it comes to summer festivals in Kyoto, 10-FEET’s Kyoto Daisakusen is the obvious pick, but the winter tradition has to be Kyoto-born rock band ROTTENGRAFFTY’s Kyouto Chotokkyu. In 2014, the event moved to Pulse Plaza, and since 2016 it has expanded to a two-day format—Kyouto Chotokkyu is a festival you simply can’t take your eyes off as it keeps growing!

It’s a festival hosted by the hugely popular youth punk band, Gagaga SP. The festival was organized out of a passionate desire to keep bands rooted in Kobe. All the performers are fiery artists whom Gagaga SP themselves genuinely want to share the stage with.

As a spin-off of hoshioto, which is held annually in Okayama Prefecture, this event is titled machioto because, unlike hoshioto—which takes place at a campground under starry skies—it is held in live music venues in the city. Sanuki Rock was launched by Su-xing-cyu, Tokushima’s “most tear-jerking comic band.” It’s a circuit-style event held across multiple venues in Takamatsu City. Because it takes place at several locations, a wide variety of artists perform. It’s a community-focused music festival where you can enjoy encounters with new music.

This is the spring event of the Kochi Machi La La La Music Festival, held in the heart of Kochi City.
