Jazz Festivals in Eastern Japan [2025–2026]: List of Jazz Streets

As the name suggests, a jazz fest refers to a music festival dedicated to jazz.

Sometimes it’s held at a single venue, but quite often it takes place across multiple spots—like live houses, shops around town, or local landmarks.

In those cases, it’s also called a circuit event or a “Jazz Street,” turning the whole city into a wonderful day filled with jazz.

In this article, we’ll introduce jazz festivals held in eastern Japan.

Along with famous festivals in Tokyo and Yokohama, we’ll also feature events set in the great outdoors, so we hope you find a wonderful event and give it a try!

Past events

NIHONBASHI PUB & JAZZFri 10/31 – Sun 11/2, Tokyo Metropolis

This is a free-admission jazz event held since 2023 under the concept of “bringing music more casually to the streets of Nihonbashi.” When you think of Tokyo’s Nihonbashi, you might picture a district lined with historic department stores and a place that makes you want to stand up straight as you walk. How about enjoying outdoor live music and spending a grown-up evening sipping drinks like at a beer garden, as a new cultural experience for this neighborhood? It’s in an area you can stop by on your way home from work, so it could be a fresh way to enjoy your weekend.

Setouchi Django Street in SumidaSun, 10/19, Tokyo Metropolis

A jazz event originating from the Seto Inland Sea—rich in history and culture—will be held in Tokyo as a sister event. The highlight is performances by artists who carry on the spirit of Django Reinhardt, rooted in the genre that blends the unique scales of Gypsy jazz with swing jazz. Precisely because this style is relatively niche within the jazz world, the event offers a chance to experience a new cultural scene and foster regional exchange through music. Why not enjoy it as if you were traveling while listening to the music?
