What is the (provisional) Kiyamachi Cultural Festival?

Revitalizing Kiyamachi: Kyoto is said to be a student city, a place where young people—said to make up one-tenth of the city’s population—gather.

But the fact is that street play is currently declining.

While weekends still see some bustle, scenes of quiet emptiness are frequently observed at other times.

Back then, it was a city that was always overflowing with students and young people, regardless of whether it was a weekday or a weekend.

Through this event, we hope people will discover how enjoyable Kiyamachi is, make it an event that helps restore the atmosphere of those days, and encourage them to experience the fun of bars and live houses.

This year features a double bill: the Kyoto Machinaka Film Festival, with screenings, live performances, and talks centered on film and music, and the music event BULL FES.
