METROPOLITAN ROCK FESTIVAL 2016 Performing Artists (11–20)
Summertime LoveShiggy Jr.

In 2015, the four-member band Shiggy Jr.
made their major debut with Summer Time Love.
The sole female member, vocalist Tomoko Ikeda, has an adorable voice that perfectly suits their bright songs.
From the title and lyrics to the overall vibe, the music is consistently pop and catchy—that’s its appeal.
STAY TUNESuchmos

Suchmos is a six-member rock band from Kanagawa Prefecture.
Their appeal lies in their stylish songs influenced by black music such as acid jazz and hip-hop.
Since last year, their appearances at festivals across the country have gradually increased, and this year they’ve continued to build momentum, performing at many more festivals.
HOT DOGTHE BAWDIES

THE BAWDIES are a band that feels like ’60s garage rock has time-traveled straight into the 21st century.
I still can’t forget the shock I felt when I first heard this song back in high school.
Their songwriting sense—so unlike most Japanese bands—and the distinctive voice of Vo.
/Ba.
ROY were just too cool, and I watched this music video over and over.
Go experience their rock ’n’ roll live for yourself.
Simple thingTHE ORAL CIGARETTES

THE ORAL CIGARETTES is a four-piece rock band from Nara Prefecture.
Their catchy yet quirky songs are addictively appealing, and their motto is BKW (meaning “upset”).
Keep an eye on them this year as they continue to shake things up with their addictive tracks.
revengeWANIMA

This year, WANIMA have been literally in nonstop demand, appearing at a ton of festivals.
Their secret to winning so many fans is probably their straight-ahead melodic hardcore sound and straightforward lyrics.
Plus, their lively onstage banter is a real highlight of their shows.
It feels great to get swept up in their rhythm more and more.
Kick&Spin[Alexandros]

This is Kick&Spin by the four-piece rock band [Alexandros].
The song dates back to their [Champagne] era and is an upbeat, cool track.
Be sure to pay attention to their high level of musicianship as well.
Also, the music videos for [Alexandros] songs have very unique and entertaining off-shot clips at the end, so take your time watching them.

In love with Shizukuindigo la End

indigo la End is another band that Enon Kawatani, the frontman of Gesu no Kiwami Otome, takes part in.
This band leans toward straightforward Japanese rock, making it relatively unadorned and easy to listen to.
This song is a mid-tempo ballad with a really nice vibe.
