Artists performing at Kyoto’s summer and rock festival “Kyoto Daisakusen 2016”

We’ll put together playlists of the much-anticipated lineup for Kyoto’s summer rock festival, Kyoto Daisakusen 2016!

The Stage of Genji (11–20)

FIST AND FIREFIRE BALL with HOME GROWN

FIRE BALL, leaders of Japan’s dancehall reggae scene, will appear at Oogesa Sakusen with the reggae band HOME GROWN as their backing band.

FIRE BALL has close ties with 10-FEET and also took part in the collaboration album “6-feat 2.” They’ve even performed this song live together with 10-FEET.

Since Oogesa Sakusen is known for frequent artist collaborations, there’s a good chance we’ll see some kind of collab on the day as well.

Ushiwaka's Stage (1–10)

The sun is still high.G-FREAK FACTORY

G-FREAK FACTORY is a four-piece rock band from Gunma Prefecture.

Their peace-infused songs, crafted in a mixed style that incorporates elements of reggae, are incredibly pleasant to listen to.

They also host their own festival, the Yamabito Music Festival, in their hometown of Gunma.

If G-FREAK FACTORY piqued your interest, be sure to check that out as well.

Maybe that… Dengaryu and Keyser Söze

We are Dengaryu and Keyser Söze, the band project of rapper Dengaryu, who is based mainly in Yamanashi.

Dengaryu became widely known after starring in the film “Saudade.” As a rapper, he has performed at events featuring ANARCHY and OZROSAURUS, and has also shared the stage with bands like Flower Companyz and Zazen Boys—an up-and-coming artist drawing attention for crossing genre boundaries.

Crossfaith is a five-piece metalcore band from Osaka Prefecture.

Their heavy guitar riffs, death growls, and occasional EDM-like synths are incredibly cool.

They’ve now broken out of Japan and gained huge popularity overseas.

Crossfaith’s world-class live shows are a must-see.

OptimistDay tripper

The three-piece melodic hardcore band Day tripper from Osaka will be performing at Kyoto Daisakusen.

Their songs are highly appealing, combining the breakneck drive of melodic punk with the raw, fiery intensity of hardcore punk.

I’ve only seen them in YouTube videos, but I have a feeling they’ll deliver a blazing set on the Ushiwaka stage.

I’ve got high expectations for Day tripper.

Dizzy Sunfist, a three-piece melodic hardcore band from Osaka Prefecture, returns to the Ushiwaka Stage for the second time.

When they first appeared in 2014, they were overjoyed to be there and delivered a performance bursting with overwhelming emotion.

We’re excited for them again this year.

Will we get to hear their signature call, “Ya-man!” again this year?

FEELFLIP, a five-member Skhaotic PUNK band that made their major debut this year, is joining the lineup for the first time this year.

“Skhaotic” is a coined term combining ska and chaos, and as the name suggests, they deliver brutally intense ska.

Their appeal lies in a top-tier instrumental ensemble featuring tenor sax, baritone sax, and even a 7-string bass, along with an overwhelming live performance.
