[2025–2026] Special Feature on Music Festivals & Outdoor Events in the Chugoku and Shikoku Regions

Hoshioto is held in Okayama Prefecture. Taking place in the nature-rich city of Ibara, Okayama, as the event title suggests, once night falls you can enjoy a collaboration of beautiful starry skies and music. At hoshioto in 2016, it’s said that a very beautiful starry sky was visible during Sawagi’s headlining set. We’re praying for good weather again this year!

This is a music event planned and run by local band members to energize Kagawa Prefecture. Since its start in 2018, it has been held with support from local music lovers, using venues like live houses, shopping arcades, and even rented udon shops. As a free-admission event, it has continued to grow in popularity and attendance. There are also exclusive items available only through crowdfunding, so why not take part and help boost Kagawa’s music scene?

Inspired by Tokushima’s historic music festival, the Tokushima Jazz Street, this Tokushima Rock Street—essentially the rock version of the Jazz Street—is a circuit-style festival that lets you freely move in and out of more than ten venues in downtown Tokushima. It’s a celebration where you can enjoy a wide range of music, from solo acoustic performances to full bands.

Live Earth Matsuyama is an event organized by an executive committee launched for the 2008 edition, led primarily by people in their 20s and 30s. Known as one of the largest eco-festivals in Shikoku, it features live performances by guest musicians, talk sessions, and booths offering organic food and locally produced, locally consumed goods, all with a strong emphasis on creating opportunities to think about our planet.

A handmade, homey music festival will be held on Nakajima, a remote island in Ehime Prefecture. This event features a new concept: on-site live performances combined with recorded streaming shows, and it highlights carefully selected artists chosen from applications received from around the world. At the local live shows, you can enjoy borderless, free-spirited performances by bands and dance units that transcend musical genres. Consider combining your visit with some sightseeing—take in the island’s scenery and stop by the refreshing, beautiful beaches.
