How about spending a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city, soaking up music in the open air? In the nature-rich state of Connecticut, there are countless music festivals held throughout the year that you can enjoy alongside the changing seasons.

Falcon Ridge Folk FestivalFri 7/24–Sun 7/26, Connecticut

A long-loved folk music festival held every July at the Goshen Fairgrounds in Goshen, Connecticut, USA. Officially billed as a “family-friendly music festival,” it’s an outdoor, stay-on-site event featuring four stages—Main, Dance, Family, and Workshop—plus a community-participation Circle of Song. A distinctive feature is the Emerging Artist Showcase, where audience voting can lead to a booking the following year. The 2026 edition will take place from July 24 to 26.

Podunk Bluegrass FestivalAug 5 (Wed) – 9 (Sun), Connecticut

This is the state’s only multi-day bluegrass festival, held in the rolling hills of Goshen, Litchfield County, Connecticut. The organizers proudly note it was selected as a Best Festival by CT Magazine. In addition to the main stage, it features the Housatonic Stage and the Litchfield Stage, and it fosters a community of bluegrass enthusiasts through workshops, a kids’ academy, camping, and field picking that continues late into the night. The 2026 edition will be held in August.

Black Bear Music FestAug 14 (Fri)–16 (Sun), Connecticut

It’s a signature Americana music festival in the state of Connecticut, centered on rock, blues, folk, and bluegrass. The venue is Harwinton Fairgrounds in Harwinton, and the organizers tout a three-day event with more than 50 bands across four stages. On-site camping is available for tents and RVs, and there are food trucks and workshops as well. As a family-friendly weekend event, it will be held in 2026 from August 14 to 16.

Connecticut Sea Music FestivalFri 6/12–Mon 6/15, Connecticut

The Connecticut Sea Music Festival is a traditional maritime folk festival organized by a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and passing on maritime traditional music. Aiming to share songs and culture of the sea through education, performance, and research, it is known as an event that keeps alive sailors’ work songs (shanties).
