Kansai Music Festivals [2025–2026]: Special Feature on Must-See Outdoor Fests & Events

Born from a desire to share the power of music and new culture and arts from Awaji Island with the world, AWAJIN Fes was created to drive growth. While most music festivals so far have mainly featured artists from outside the island, this festival centers on performers from Awaji Island. You can enjoy traditional, locally rooted music, as well as stages by students who live on the island—an event that passes music on to a new generation. A new live event is being held in the lead-up to the 2025 Japan International Exposition in Osaka. The concept is that anyone who loves music can take part. One of the Expo’s goals is to showcase cutting-edge technology and art to the world, and this event also leverages technology so that everyone—including people with disabilities—can enjoy music on an equal footing. Features include glasses-style displays that show song lyrics and MC talk in real time as text, options to enjoy the live video on tablet devices, designated wheelchair seating, and sign language interpretation.
