The term “old-school” is used in various contexts, but many people might not really understand what it means.

To be honest, I didn’t get it myself in the past.

This time, I’d like to focus on the term “old-school” and talk about it.

What does the original meaning mean?

Originally, it was used to mean “alma mater” as a noun and “old and good” as a modifier.

From there, the meaning shifted, and today it’s used with the nuance of “classical.”

It was called a block party because it was held by gathering people in a specific section of the city.

Looking back now, the outfits might seem tacky, but at the time they were groundbreaking, and the B-boys were thrilled.

When you think of old-school hip-hop, you might picture baggy silhouettes, but it seems the heads back then actually preferred wearing super tight clothes.
