[Breaking News] Porno Super Express 2017: “Dragon Ash” Live Report
ROTTENGRAFFTY’s Porno Chotokkyu, a classic winter tradition in Kyoto.
Breaking down genre barriers, fiery bands from all over Japan gather in Kyoto!
Here’s a breaking live report from the Kinkaku Stage!
The fully prepared audience surges forward, undulating.

At Porno Ultra Express, the 4th train on the Kinkaku Stage is Dragon Ash.
As the dancers DRI-V and ATSUSHI, who appeared along with the SE, hyped up the crowd, the instrumentalists slowly took the stage.
The departure number is the new song “Mix It Up,” released in February 2017 on the day of their 20th debut anniversary.
HIROKI flips the bird and taunts the crowd.
As if thrusting their answer to Kj’s “are you ready to bounce?”, the fully primed audience surges forward and heaves in waves.
Without missing a beat, into a headbang.
At Kj’s call of “Let’s play!”, the crowd thrust their fists in the air and answered with an all-out response.

Next up was their cover of THE MAD CAPSULE MARKETS' "Pulse."
Three songs that had become live staples in 2017 played in a row, and with the crowd at Kyoto Pulse Plaza already fired up, “Jump” resounded through the venue.
A track from the 2017 album “MAJESTIC,” well-known to fans as a new live anthem and a killer tune perfect for festivals.
Before anyone knew it, Kj had taken off his shirt and was bare-chested. When he hyped the crowd by shouting, “Spin them, spin them!” the audience, as if they’d been waiting for it, started whirling their towels above their heads.
Amid the blackout, KenKen’s slap bass thundered, and as Fantasista kicked off, a massive sing-along erupted during the chorus, while countless zombie-like divers tumbled and rolled toward the stage.
I moved to Kyoto this month.

When KenKen announced, “I have something to share at the festival in Kyoto,” the audience buzzed, but they erupted with joy at the happy news: “I moved to Kyoto this month.” Fans who’d seen his tweet in the morning saying he had an announcement and were worried it might be something troubling were surely relieved.
It moves into “The Live,” featuring KenKen’s sultry slap bass, followed by ROTTENGRAFFTY’s cover song “THIS WORLD.”
As thunderous cheers erupted from the crowd, ROTTENGRAFFTY’s NOBUYA and Yuichi made a surprise appearance.

The sight of members from both bands hugging each other with smiles was the best scene—something only possible at Porno Ultra Express.
Dragon Ash delivered an overwhelming live performance from start to finish with a relentlessly high-energy setlist and intense heat.
