[Breaking News] Porno Chotokkyu 2017: Live Report on Kyuso Nekokami
Last updated:

ROTTENGRAFFTY’s Porno Chotokkyu, a classic winter tradition in Kyoto.

Breaking down genre barriers, fiery bands from all over Japan gather in Kyoto!

Here’s a breaking live report from the Kinkaku Stage!

Let's dance that super lame dance together.

Kyuso Nekokami

On the jam-packed Kinkaku Stage appeared Kyuso Nekokami, making their fourth consecutive appearance.

Right after the self-introduction and the greeting of “Yoroshiku!”, they launched straight into Kyuso Nekokami’s staple song, “MEGA SHAKE IT!”.

When he hyped up the crowd by shouting, “Let’s dance this ridiculously lame dance together!”, everyone in the venue went wild dancing along with vocalist-guitarist Seiya Yamasaki and keyboardist-vocalist Shinnosuke Yokota.

You'll be instantly drawn into the world of Kyuso Nekokami.

The next song is “Bibitta.”

The audience thrust their fists into the air in response to the members’ passionate performance.

At Yamasaki’s call of “Alright, let’s bust out those crappy lame dance moves again,” the venue once more turned into a dance floor.

After Yamasaki said, “We’re gonna do a love song,” the third track that started was Menhera-chan.

I spit venom to a brisk, high-tempo melody.

With barely a moment to breathe, TOSHI-LOW-san follows.

The crowd responds to the stream of killer tunes that keeps coming with no time for a break.

In the chorus, Yamasaki dives into the crowd and belts out the song while on top of the audience.

Just as he took off his T-shirt, to everyone’s surprise, ROTTENGRAFFTY’s vocalist NOBUYA descended to stand right next to Yamasaki.

The venue erupted with excitement at the surprising turn of events.

Next, starting with Yokota’s count, was “KMDT25.”

When Yamasaki hyped up the audience by saying, "Form a huge Bon Odori circle!" four or five large circles appeared in the venue, creating a breathtaking scene.

They fire off numbers with relentless intensity.

People who ride the Keihan Line are Okei-han.

The sixth song in Kyuso Nekokami’s nonstop live set is “House.”

A call-and-response at the end of the song: “People riding Keihan!” “Okeihan!”

However, when I tease them by saying, “What a shame—if everyone had said ‘Okeihan’ just now, we could move on to the next song,” the ‘House’ starts up again.

The second Okeihan call drew such a thunderous cheer that it felt like the Kinkaku stage might shake.

As promised, the next song, “I Want to Become a DQN, I Want to Die in My 40s,” is starting.

We’ll captivate you with an all-out performance where the members fly, jump, and headbang.

The venue’s energy hit MAX as they played a fan-favorite live track.

A rousing chorus of “Yankii are scary” to the poppy melody of the keyboard.

Here, Yamasaki dives into the audience for the second time.

Walking over the audience’s heads and shouting, “Hold me up on top of you,” once he found a steady foothold, the chorus of “Yankees are scary” started up again.

When Yokota shouted, 'Poltro and Kyuso feel both close and far, but the audience is the best, so can we play again next year!?' the final song, Happy Ponkotsu, began.

Before the chorus, Yamasaki shouts, "I love you, Rotten!" and sends the crowd into a frenzy.

As they had declared during rehearsal, that they'd plow through the set without any MC talk, Kyuso Nekokami blasted through all nine songs without delay and left the venue.
