[Breaking] Porno Super Express 2017: Live Report of T.M.Revolution
ROTTENGRAFFTY’s Porno Chotokkyu, a classic winter tradition in Kyoto.
Breaking down genre barriers, fiery bands from all over Japan gather in Kyoto!
Here’s a breaking live report from the Kinkaku Stage!
They were all songs you could sing along to. Everyone can sing them all.

Day 2 of Pornocho Tokkyu is T.

We are departing on the Revolution.
Despite it being as early as the 11 o’clock hour, Kyoto Pulse Plaza was already packed like a sardine-can rush-hour train.
As ROTTENGRAFFTY’s NOBUYA, who appeared before the show started, said, “They were all songs you can sing. You all can sing them all,” it was T., the kind of song everyone recognizes from just the intro.
M.
The live show kicks off with “WHITE BREATH,” the very byword of Revolution.
The instant the intro starts, the crowd surges forward and a thunderous roar erupts from the venue.
From the very first note, the audience burst into a massive sing-along.
When Takanori Nishikawa raised his microphone overhead, the crowd answered with a sing-along, and just 30 seconds into the show the venue’s energy had already hit its peak.
In the chorus, countless divers tumble toward the stage, creating a goosebump-inducing sense of unity between the stage and the entire venue.
Without missing a beat, it kicked off with “Blue Thunder ~JOG edit~.”
Takanori Nishikawa appeared in a simple black baseball shirt.
Just by running left and right across the stage, cheers erupt from the audience.
Amid a storm of hand fans, of course the entire audience belted out the chorus.
In the third song, WILD RUSH, when Nishikawa urged the crowd to jump, the entire venue erupted into a storm of jumping.
HIGH PRESSURE and HOT LIMIT follow one after another without a moment’s pause.
Even without Nishikawa prompting them as he darts energetically across the stage with a handheld mic, the audience is already doing the familiar choreography during the chorus.
A lineup of killer tunes that everyone in Japan knows—songs that get the whole venue smiling, singing, and dancing together.
With overwhelming vocal prowess and staging, they unleashed a barrage of smash hits.
With this day, the long-standing feud between Shiga and Kyoto will, in a sense, be resolved through reconciliation.

After performing five songs without taking a breath, he slipped in a mischievous MC: “We’ve come to make your hearts—and the depths of winter in Kyoto—a little closer to summer! I’m Takanori Nishikawa, Shiga’s Hometown Tourism Ambassador. The long-standing discord between Shiga and Kyoto, as of today, shall take the form of reconciliation.” With that, the show dove into its second half.
Performing the three songs familiar as the theme songs of the Sengoku BASARA series without any breaks.
While being a pop song, its hybrid sound—rooted in traditional Japanese elements and blending J-trance and rock—is T.
M.
Isn't it a new frontier that only Revolution has reached?
In the intro of “FLAGS,” the sound of Japanese taiko drums rang out and the crowd started clapping; when Nishikawa took off his shirt and revealed a tank top during “SWORD SUMMIT,” ten thousand people cheered; and in the call-and-response of “DOUBLE DEAL,” he showcased a clear, soaring high-tone voice.
From a setlist that featured eight songs in exactly a 35-minute slot, I felt an overwhelming desire to entertain the audience.
It was a wonderful concert where Takanori Nishikawa’s vocal power and personal charm reached all 10,000 members of the audience.
