[Breaking] Porno Super Express 2017: “Yabai T-Shirts Yasan” Live Report
ROTTENGRAFFTY’s Porno Chotokkyu, a classic winter tradition in Kyoto.
Breaking down genre barriers, fiery bands from all over Japan gather in Kyoto!
Here’s a breaking live report from the Kinkaku Stage!
Runaway train, departing!

As soon as the SE started playing, the venue filled with clapping, and many fans who had already been at the back surged further toward the front.
As soon as guitarist-vocalist Koyama Takuya shouted, “Porno Chotokkyu 2017 is starting!”, they launched into Tank-top of the world.
The energy in the venue instantly shot up to the max, making you forget the cold outside.
suddenlycircle moshIt happened, and a sing-along enveloped the venue.
As the crowd erupted into a chorus of “Go to RIZAP!!,” Koyama amped them up even more, shouting, “You can go harder than that!!”
Both the stage and the audience kept cranking up the energy, and kicking off with Morimori Moto’s drum phrase was the second song, “For Now, Bite.”
To the pleasant off-beat rhythm of the guitar and drums, the venue...SkadansMany fans are doing it in succession.
After that, they keep jumping in time with the changes in the song’s mood; in the chorus you can even see some crowd surfers, and of course people forming a big circle and running around.
The entire venue enjoying themselves with their whole bodies—this is exactly the charm of a Yabai T-Shirts Yasan live show.
By this time, the venue was packed all the way to the back with fans who had come to see their live show.
YabaT first thing in the morning is...?

"Kiss! Kiss! Marriage! Marriage!" The song that brought the whole venue together was "Happy Pre-Wedding Song," notable for its characteristically humorous lyrics.
While it's catchy and upbeat, the firmly distorted guitar sound feels great and further raises the venue's energy.
Seeing many fans at the venue enjoying themselves while singing along shows just how popular they are after making their major debut this year.
After the pre-wedding happy song that ended with the words “Happy wedding!”, it was the first MC of the day.
Koyama, who hails from Kyoto, gets the crowd laughing with Kyoto-themed talk and warms up the venue not only with his performance but also with his MCing.
As the self-deprecating call-and-response of “Yaba-T first thing in the morning?” “Honestly, that’s tough!” rang out, they moved on to the next song.
Following Koyama’s line, “Is it okay if we do the kind of song where you spin your towel during the chorus?”, they launched into “L.O.V.E. Towel.”
Countless towels were whirled around across the floor, creating a vividly colorful scene that epitomized a festival.
A live performance with dynamic pacing

During the MC, they mentioned an episode where Nobuya from ROTTENGRAFFTY said his favorite song is “Kata have a good day.”
Not only is it a song they rarely play at their regular shows, but this will also be their first time performing it at a festival.
The intensity from earlier has cooled down for the moment, and I settle in to listen closely, gently swaying my body.
Even so, during the so-called “whistling time” when Morimorimoto whistled, they made sure to draw laughs from the crowd—for instance, Koyama and bassist-vocalist Shibata Aribobo sat down in front of the drums.

YabaT are relatives of ROTTENGRAFFTY.

The other day, he told a story about ROTTENGRAFFTY’s N∀OKI saying, “I think YabaT is like family to ROTTEN,” then shouted, “That’s why we’ve gotta put on an insanely cool show today!”—and with that, they launched into ‘Yabami.’
With the fierce guitar riff, the crowd’s energy surged back to the max.
A mosh breaks out, and during the interludeheadbangingThere are also fans who do it.
Since it’s down to the last two songs, the fans in the venue are giving it their all, just like the three on stage, as if to savor every moment.
And the last song is “Gather ’Round! Party People,” which could be called their calling card.
As soon as the song started, the venue erupted into a chorus of “sha-sha-sha!”
Spurred on by Koyama’s shout of “Dance, dance!”, Shibata danced and dashed around the stage, determined not to be outdone by the fans dancing on the floor.
It was the perfect kickoff to two days of Porno Super Express—a unifying live set that fired up the morning crowd and brought the whole venue together.
