Fireworks (Uchiage Hanabi) - DAOKO × Kenshi Yonezu

A collaborative track by DAOKO and Kenshi Yonezu that portrays the bittersweet feelings of love at summer’s end.

Emotions of love are expressed alongside fleeting, beautiful fireworks, leaving a deep resonance in listeners’ hearts.

Released in August 2017 as the theme song for the film “Fireworks, Should We See It from the Side or the Bottom?,” it topped the Billboard Japan Hot 100.

With over 500 million views on YouTube, it has gained immense popularity both in Japan and abroad.

Recommended for those who want to reminisce about summer memories or who have experienced parting with someone dear.

When sung as a duet, each person’s feelings intertwine, creating an even deeper sense of emotion.

A grand duet in which two opposing voices intertwine, guiding the listener toward new possibilities.

Its up-tempo rhythm and powerful vocals vividly express the will to break through the status quo and carve out the future.

Released in October 2013 as the second collaboration between Nana Mizuki and T.

M.

Revolution and used as the opening theme for the second season of the TV anime Valvrave the Liberator, the song reached No.

3 on the Oricon Weekly Chart.

With its energetic sound and lyrics that portray bonds of the heart, it’s a perfect track to energize karaoke sessions among friends.

Brain Fluid Explosion Girl – rerulili feat. Hatsune Miku & GUMI
Exploding Brains Girl rerulili

This song, with its uptempo pace and tongue-twister-like lyrics you can’t help but hum along to, is perfect for a duet—though if you try to sing it solo, you’ll be gasping for air.

The slightly mature, witty lyrics are entertaining, and it’s one of those tracks that fits the description “once you hear it, you’ll never forget it.”

Vast waves of the great desert, new

Gekiyaku V’s urgent, visceral vocals and Kazehiki V’s lyrical voice intersect within a cinematic soundscape, stirring the listener’s emotions.

Released in July 2024 as a track by Dabakuha Shin and included on the album “V.

S,” the highlight of this work is, above all, the exhilarating back-and-forth woven by the two vocalists.

While feeling the constriction of being expected to deliver a “finished product,” the lyrics portray a figure who, in the end, reruns everything and faces forward—and the vocal performances fit that vision perfectly.

Sing it like you’re shouting your resolve toward the future with a close friend, and you’ll find the courage to step into tomorrow.

[GUMI × Hatsune Miku] Identity [Kanaria]
Identity Kanaria

The Vocaloid producer Kanaria released the digital-only single “Identity” in 2022.

This is a highly recommended track for those looking to stylishly perform a Vocaloid-style duet song.

It’s a challenging piece where low and high registers intertwine and the parts switch between singers, but if you’re confident in your singing and want to nail a slightly difficult song in a cool way, why not give it a try? If you make it through to the end, it’s refreshing—perfect as a stress reliever too.

The masterpiece “Shallow,” where you can fully savor Lady Gaga’s soaring vocals, was released as an insert song for the 2018 film A Star Is Born.

After its release, it achieved the remarkable feat of holding the No.

1 spot on the iTunes global chart for 154 consecutive days.

Thanks in part to that success, the film’s soundtrack, which includes this track, became a massive hit, selling over 10 million copies.

The lyrics depict two aspects: two people moving from a shallow connection to truly getting to know each other, and their resolve to dive together into a deeper world.

As it ties closely to the film’s story, be sure to check out the movie as well.

LionMay’n / Megumi Nakajima7rank/position

When it comes to iconic female duets, you can’t leave out “Lion” sung by May’n and Megumi Nakajima! The song was used as the opening theme for the anime Macross Frontier and was released in 2008.

In the anime, May’n performs the singing voice for Sheryl Nome, while Megumi Nakajima plays Ranka Lee.

Composer Yoko Kanno has said she crafted the song with the idea that, despite the love triangle, there’s a sense of solidarity and empathy budding between the two.

Beyond their back-and-forth interplay, the powerful unison and harmonies are a major draw of this track.

Just like in the anime, it’s also great to sing this as a duet between two “rivals”!
