It’s hosted by Re view, a three-piece rock band from Nara.

I was enveloped in a refreshingly pleasant space.
“We’re starting the review—thank you in advance!” With those words, the final act’s review began.
As befits the host band, the venue saw the biggest crowd of the day.
The first track, Crossing, began with a guitar riff drenched in spatial effects, and in an instant the venue was enveloped in a refreshing, underwater-like sense of weightless drift.
Together with vocalist-guitarist Yuichi Teramoto’s clear, expansive singing voice, the world of Re view unfolds throughout the venue.
While Teruyasu Motooka laid down a tight, tense rhythm, bassist Yuma Yoshikawa’s smile shone as if he were savoring the moment.
"Re:Festival 2017 was awesome—so, so awesome!" No sooner had he shouted that than they launched straight into the second song, Pendulum.
My heart dances as three people beat their respective instruments to a quarter-note rhythm.
The eye contact between the two frontmen was striking.
This is where they truly shine as a live band that performs as many as 100 shows a year.
I was captivated by the way they sometimes let go of the guitar and just sang.
I still want to keep singing forever.
“I still have a bit more I want to say, but I want to keep singing for a while longer…” With those words, they began Fix You from the mini-album MUSIC, which is set to be released on November 1.
An up-tempo, light-hearted song with a refreshing feel.
It’s a piece that perfectly suits the slightly chilly atmosphere of the venue on an autumn evening.
From around this point, the excitement in the venue gradually starts to build.
The fourth track follows right on, and it's the refreshing “Lamplight” as well.
Just as the dance-like bassline feels so pleasant and the freewheeling drum phrases captivate you, Yuuichi’s high-tone voice stretches out into the forest of Kashihara Shrine.

At the chorus of the fifth song, Road Movie—which began as Lamplight surged in—the entire audience thrust their fists into the air.
A stage to express gratitude
During the instrumental break of 'Road Movie,' Yuichi shared his thoughts about holding this event: "I don’t think I did anything grand today. I don’t think we did it on our own, either. Everyone helped us! That alone makes me happy!"
They also conveyed feelings they can’t usually express straightforwardly by offering words of thanks to Leona Okuda, the booking staff at the Nara live house Neverland who played a key role on the event’s executive committee, as well as to the performing artists, and a strong sense of the close bonds within Nara’s music scene could be felt.
“People might generally think live music venues are scary places, but our youth was there. We organized this event because we want everyone to know that,” said Yuuichi, speaking about the event’s concept.
And with a declaration that we want to hold it again next year, the final song, Rest, began.
This song also starts with an intro that has a very beautiful image.
In the chorus, they repeat “let’s stay connected,” which felt linked to the wish embedded in this very event itself.
The music of Nara is here!
After the intermission ended and the three exited to the wings, a curtain call came from the audience right away.
After checking with the event headquarters and getting permission for an encore, Yuuichi shouted, “Yay!!”
The last song is Crown.
A mid-tempo, mellow track.
“I want to keep dancing—don’t let it end, play it again,”—I was utterly captivated by the song choice, which felt perfect for this situation, as if wishing this moment could last forever.
There were fellow performers in the wings, and the audience ranged from familiar faces we always see at live houses to people who don’t usually come to such venues, all enjoying the show.
The music of Nara is here!
Everyone who was there must have felt that this is an event we absolutely want to see continue next year as well.
A quick word after the show!

An open-air rock festival organized by Re view, a three-piece rock band from Nara Prefecture. The festival is held out of Re view’s desire to give back to their hometown through music. It’s a new rock festival in Nara, where there are hardly any outdoor rock events, launching in 2017. It’s a must-see event not only for music fans in Nara Prefecture but for music lovers across the Kansai region.
