Lifetime Respect - Women's Version (RSP)

RSP was a female vocal duo active from 2006 to 2013 that gained popularity with songs centered on R&B and hip-hop.

When it comes to their signature hits, many people would likely name “Lifetime Respect: Women’s Version.” Released as a female-perspective take on Dozan Miki’s classic “Lifetime Respect,” the song became a huge hit, especially among women.

With Kansai dialect and down-to-earth lyrics, it gained wide popularity and won Best New Artist at both the Best Hit Song Festival and the Japan Cable Radio Awards as a love song.

NANJAMAN is a musician born in Osaka, the sacred land of reggae, and raised in Yokohama, another reggae hot zone.

With a Jamaican-honed deejay style, he’s gained nationwide popularity.

His track “Ikitakya Ike” (“If You Wanna Go, Go”) is one of his hits, released in 2001.

As the title suggests, it portrays the honest feelings of a man who doesn’t try to stop his girlfriend from leaving.

It’s a breakup song, but also a lovely love song—definitely worth checking out.

MEGARYU is a popular reggae duo with nationwide recognition.

While they are primarily a reggae duo, they originally included the R&B singer HITOMI, and perhaps due to that influence, you can also feel elements of R&B and other Black music.

Among their many love songs, one that gained particular popularity is “Yozora ni Saku Hana” (Flowers Blooming in the Night Sky).

Released in 2005, the song won fans across the country with its romantic lyrics pledging eternal love and its catchy melody.

I LOVE U Manji Line

Yosuke Kubozuka, an actor who was hugely active from the late 1990s through the 2000s, now performs as a reggae deejay under the artist name Manji LINE.

Incidentally, his younger brother is also a deejay and has battled CHEHON at Krush.

Manji LINE’s classic track “I LOVE U” is a love song filled with a message to a lover—“I can’t live without you.” There’s no doubt you’ll be enchanted by its romantic lyrics!

GiftET-KING

ET-KING, a hugely popular group formed in Osaka in 1999.

Rather than a reggae group, they feel more like a pop group that incorporates reggae and hip-hop, but the song I’m introducing today, “Gift,” has strong reggae elements, so I’ve chosen to highlight it.

This track is their sixth single, and despite featuring straightforward lyrics and reggae influences, it won wide popularity with its catchy melody and received the Japan Cable Radio Awards.

It’s the perfect love song to give to someone special!

With fiery vibes, catchy lyrics, and powerhouse live performances, they’ve earned nationwide popularity.

When it comes to their love songs, the definitive pick has to be “Junrenka.” As the title suggests, it’s a classic about pure love, and thanks to its catchy lyrics and sentimental melody, it received Double Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan for its massive success.

Highly recommended for anyone who loves love songs packed with passionate vibes!

LUVMUNEHIRO

With her unpretentious personality and Osaka-honed talk skills, talent Sarina Suzuki is active mainly in variety shows.

For those from the Mecha-Ike generation, she’s a familiar face.

In fact, she also performs as a reggae singer under the name MUNEHIRO and made her major-label debut in 2007 with Far Eastern Tribe Records.

Her recommended love song is “LUV,” which gained popularity for its lyrics depicting straightforward expressions of love.
