ROCK IN JAPAN FES. 2016 Performing Artists (1–10)
When I Was A KingMONOEYES

It’s no exaggeration to say MONOEYES is the band with by far the most festival appearances this year.
They’re getting a lot of buzz as the band fronted by Takeshi Hosomi of ELLEGARDEN and the HIATUS.
At this year’s Rockin’ Japan, Hosomi is also performing with the HIATUS, so it’s a doubleheader for him.
Beyond that10-FEET

10-FEET is a three-piece rock band from Kyoto.
Their self-hosted outdoor festival, Kyoto Daisakusen, is a huge hit every year.
Their music overflows with kindness and carries a strength that lifts you up.
When people say songs give them energy, that’s exactly what their tracks do.
A 10-FEET live show truly feels like it washes your heart clean.
Black Market Blues9mm Parabellum Bullet

9mm Parabellum Bullet has gained popularity with songs that showcase their unique sense of style.
Black Market Blues is the song they performed when they first appeared on Music Station.
So even people who don’t know much about 9mm may have at least heard this one.
KARATEBABYMETAL

BABYMETAL, a fusion of metal and idol music that’s supported not only by idol fans but also by metal fans, is notably extremely popular overseas.
They’re also scheduled to appear at various festivals across Japan this year.
hologramNICO Touches the Walls

Speaking of NICO Touches the Walls, the image of “Te wo Tatake” is strong, but this song, like “Te wo Tatake,” was also used in a Calpis commercial.
As expected, they’re a band whose refreshing vocals and straightforward, catchy songs are truly appealing.
FUNKASTICRIP SLYME

RIP SLYME is a five-member hip-hop group active since 1994.
Released in 2002, FUNKASTIC can be said to be the song that sparked their breakthrough, achieving their highest ever position on the Oricon charts.
The track also drew attention for their collaboration with guitarist Tomoyasu Hotei.
That version is incredibly cool as well, so be sure to give it a listen.
Sugar Song and Bitter StepUNISON SQUARE GARDEN

UNISON SQUARE GARDEN is a three-piece rock band active since 2004.
Their song “Sugar Song and Bitter Step” is catchy, highly upbeat, and so fun that it naturally makes you want to move your body as you listen.
The opening drums are striking and cool.
