Toshizo Hijikata was such a strict man that he was called the “Demon Vice-Commander.” He worked hard to enforce the unit’s rules and was a key pillar of the Shinsengumi’s strength. Of course, he also distinguished himself in battle and is known for having fought alongside his Shinsengumi comrades until the very end.
