Shimajam (Waves of Sound Crossing Islands) | Music Festival & Events

Set against the islands of the Seto Inland Sea—often called Japan’s Mediterranean—Shima Jam is a laid-back music festival where you can unwind, savor nature’s bounty and delicious local fare, and be gently wrapped in waves of sound. It will bob along atop the floating pier on Omishima along the Shimanami Kaido, home to the renowned spiritual power spot, Oyamazumi Shrine. Lining the shrine’s atmospheric, old folk houses–flanked approach, a semiannual premium event brings together the island’s specialties and mouthwatering eats. The Omishima Sando Market will be held at the same time! It’s also the perfect day to pay a visit to Oyamazumi Shrine, honored as the guardian of all Japan.
