Special Feature on Popular Winter Festivals in the Tokai Region [2026]: Introducing Venues and Artists

This is a music event held in Shizuoka City. It is scheduled to take place at a hall in Shizuoka in February 2026, continuing from the previous year. Performing will be WONK, an experimental soul band known for its free interpretation of jazz, soul, and hip-hop, and Toshiki Soejima, a guitarist based in Shizuoka. This music event began with the slogan “Sosha, want to give it a try?” and brings together bands from the Hida region. The venue is the Small Hall of the Takayama Citizens’ Cultural Center in Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, and it will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Ten groups from the local Hida area will take turns performing, offering live music in an indoor hall. The come-and-go venue will also feature kitchen cars (food trucks), making it a casual, drop-in-friendly music event.

A wide variety of performances—marching, jazz, orchestra, chorus, and more—unfold throughout the terminal, letting visitors enjoy the unique, festive atmosphere of a gateway to the skies. OSU ENCOUNTER is a circuit event jointly hosted by ZIP-FM’s radio program “FIND OUT,” which introduces new Japanese music acts, and the long-established live venue “E.L.L.” in Osu, Nagoya. Set across E.L.L.’s three venues—Electric Lady Land, ell.FITS ALL, and ell.SIZE—up-and-coming artists who are currently in the spotlight gather in the streets of Osu. In 2026, it will be held on February 11, with Natsu Shirai serving as MC.

The Matsusaka Lantern Festival is one of the largest lantern events in Mie Prefecture, held in and around the Matsusaka Castle Ruins (Matsusaka Park) in Matsusaka City. During the festival, a total of 1,500 sky lanterns illuminate the night sky, while the special stage features live music, dance performances, and a night bubble show to energize the venue. The finale includes a fireworks show synchronized with light and sound, and there are plenty of gourmet food booths as well. It was held on February 7 and 8, 2026.

BLARE FEST. is a two-day rock festival held in Nagoya, Aichi, hosted by the loud rock band coldrain. Under the organizers’ ethos of “breaking down walls with sound,” a diverse lineup of artists from across the domestic and international loud music scenes come together to deliver high-energy performances across multiple stages. coldrain themselves also perform, making for two heavy, floor-shaking days born in Nagoya. The 2026 edition will take place on February 7 and 8.
