We collaborate with junior high and high school students, vocational students, and university and junior college students to support their dreams and potential through the Yumehane Festival.
We would like to introduce how it differs from music-only festivals or art festivals featuring only professionals, as well as its unique appeal.

What is Yumehane Fes?
First held in 2011 and now in its fifth year, this is a collaborative festival featuring professionals and students in music, dance, art, and photography, held at the Hattori Ryokuchi Open-Air Music Hall in Osaka.
Centered on the theme of “dreams,” this event brings together students and professionals to collaborate across a variety of genres—music, dance, art, photography, and more—encouraging participants to gain the courage and momentum to pursue their dreams. The sight of an audience cheering them on becomes a catalyst for everyone involved to chase their own aspirations. The event is organized with kogakusyu Sho at its core.

Kogakusyu Sho features a unique lineup with traditional Japanese instruments—taiko drums and shinobue flutes—at the forefront, supported by drums, bass, and keyboards.
We are a band that aims to create music that becomes a catalyst for something—sharing pleasant tones and continually conveying the greatness of Japanese taiko and traditional instruments—so that everyone who listens feels energized, moves forward with their dreams, and finds inspiration.
In recent years, their songs have been featured on TV shows like SMAP×SMAP, Viking, Japanese Style Originator, and Hirunandesu, making them a band you just can’t take your eyes off.

Highlights of Yumehane Fes 2016: “Collaboration”
At the Yumehane Festival, you can enjoy collaborations between each artist and students.
From here, I would like to introduce the program.
Collaboration between music and music—collabing on each artist’s tracks!
Kogakusyu Sho × Kuzushima High School Taiko Drum Club
The Taiko Drum Club of Osaka Prefectural Kunijima High School is a well-known club that has been featured on TV programs.
They usually perform upon request from local events and welfare facilities.
The collaboration between such a taiko drum club, traditional Japanese instruments, and the band Kogakusyu Sho is a must-see.

Mitokatsuyuki × Sakurazuka High School Light Music Club
Mitokatsuyuki is a singer-songwriter who performs solo and has recently been getting attention as the person rumored to be singing the Japanese parts to a Jamiroquai song in Nissin Cup Noodles commercials.
And the Sakurazuka High School Light Music Club often performs at local events on a regular basis and is said to operate under the motto of being a “community-centered light music club.”
It’ll be exciting to see whether Mitokatsuyuki from Hokkaido, collaborating with the Sakurazuka High School Light Music Club in his hometown of Osaka, will deliver a community-focused performance.

The jubilax × Riseisha High School Wind Ensemble
The jubilax is a trio consisting of saxophone, guitar, and bass.
Although it’s an instrumental, the singing-like saxophone performance takes on the role of the vocals, making it easy to listen to.
Collaborating with The jubilax is the brass band of Riseisha High School, which is also famous for high school baseball.
I’ve heard they’ll also be performing that classic song that’s a staple at baseball games on the day.
This collaboration is likely to be a very tasteful one as well.

Collaboration of music and dance—collabing with an Ultra Tower track!
Ultratower × MADOKA × Kongō High School Dance Club
Ultra Tower, a band from Shiga Prefecture who broke through after advancing to the JAPAN Final of the YAMAHA-hosted band contest Music Revolution.
Collaborating with them are the dancer MADOKA and the Kongo High School dance club from Osaka.
MADOKA is a talented young dancer whose skills have even been featured on television programs.
The Kongō High School Dance Club has 39 members, and on the day of the event, you can expect a powerful performance by 40 people—including MADOKA—set to Ultratawer’s catchy, message-driven songs.

Collaboration between music and art
Kogakusyu-sho × Harmonism × Live Art Project Painter ATB × Osaka City University Art Club Seito-kai & Kansai Art Division Students
There will be live art performances by Harmonism, the creative director who also handles album artwork for kogakusyu Sho; ATB of the live art project, who paints large canvases on stage in sync with live music; and students from the Osaka City University Art Club Seito-kai and the Kansai Art Division.
Since it’s a collaboration between music and art, I think we’ll get to see a fun and beautiful stage.

The stage proceedings will be a collaboration between FM802 DJ Satoshi Hirano and students aspiring to work in voice-related professions!
Satoshi Hirano × Visual Arts Vocational School
The show will be hosted by Satoshi Hirano, who is currently active as a DJ on FM802, and a Visual Arts student who is studying every day with the goal of working in voice-related fields.
Wouldn’t getting to perform alongside a top-tier radio DJ be an incredible experience for the students?

His performance, wrapped in gentle vocals and lyrics, is a must-check.

Lastly
I talked a little about Yumehane Fes 2016—what did you think?
You won’t see a collaboration event between professionals and students anywhere else.
Above all, it’s a wonderful space where both performers and audience members can discover dreams and possibilities and support one another.
Whether you're worried about your child's future, coming with friends, or joining on your own, please feel free to participate and make this a place where you feel you belong.
