It's fun.Lyrics: Kazuko Yamauchi / Music: Takahiko Terashima

When you sing it, you naturally want to clap your hands and sway your body to the rhythm—That’s Fun! Its theme—that clapping and singing together with everyone is so much fun!—is perfect for children’s choir.
It encourages kids to notice the unique joys of group singing, like comparing the sound of clapping your own right and left hands with the sound of clapping your hands together with a friend, and listening closely to the voices around you as you sing.
Let’s look at one another—friends and teachers alike—add some movements, and enjoy singing together.
Watch the CarnivalDaisuke Yokoyama / Atsuko Ono

Let me introduce “Miteté Carnival,” a song that’s so fun it lifts your spirits just by listening! It aired in June 2024 on NHK’s “Okaasan to Issho.” The lyrics and music are by Takumi Murata, who is also the leader of the rock band “Carnavacation.” He creates music that fuses Brazilian sounds with pop, and he works on many songs for children as well.
For example, he wrote the September 2023 monthly song “Ninjin Engine Rocket” and the exercise song “Kao Taisou.” Through his music, Murata hopes to make the world as joyful as a carnival.
Be sure to sing along with your kids and make every day a little more fun!
Song of the EarthYuuichirou Hanada

This is the January 2023 song from “Okaasan to Issho,” featuring a friendly, energetic melody and a message to keep singing “the Earth’s loving song” forever.
“Chikyuu no Uta” (The Earth’s Song) was written and composed by Osamu Sakata, the 7th “Uta no Onii-san,” and carries a warm message that children will continue to sing this love song from the Earth.
Arranged by Takeshi Ike, the bright, refreshing arrangement truly shines.
The video, set in a white studio sprinkled with colorful animation, makes it a pop masterpiece that will have both adults and children wanting to sing and dance along.
Let's go to the park.Lyrics/Music by Osamu Sakata

Osamu Sakata, affectionately known as a former “Uta no Onii-san” (Singer on the show), has created many songs, and one of his most popular is “Let’s Go to the Park.” After it was performed on the NHK program “Okaasan to Issho,” it has been sung at kindergartens and nursery schools across Japan.
The song expresses the excitement of going out to the park.
There’s a call-and-response section in the middle, so it’s sure to get lively when everyone sings together.
It’s also fun to sing before heading out to the park.
UraraYuichiro Hanada, Maya Nagata

Urara was the first “Song of the Month” for Maya Onee-san on NHK’s Okaasan to Issho, debuting as the song for April 2022.

The bright, rhythmic melody and gentle, uplifting lyrics—like “Let’s give a warm, tight hug; everything will be all right”—leave a strong impression on both children and adults.
It’s a lively yet tender tune that perfectly suits new beginnings in spring and everyday moments for parents and kids alike.
Mushi-Mushi FestivalYuichiro Hanada, Maya Nagata

A song that makes you want to sway your body and groove to the rhythm! Let me introduce “Mushi Mushi Festival.” Its charm lies in the adorable, insect-themed lyrics.
It’s perfect for kids who love looking at bugs or are into bug-hunting as their current craze.

Ho! Ho! Ho!Lyrics: Akira Ito / Music: Nobuyoshi Koshibe

“Ho! Ho! Ho!” is a fun song with simple lyrics, a bouncy melody, and a flowing chorus.
For children, not every day may feel cheerful, but this song has a mysterious way of lifting their spirits naturally when they listen to it.
It’s great to sing while adding simple gestures and dance moves! Also, because it’s surprisingly tricky to sing the pitches accurately, we recommend lots of practice and arranging a chance for the children to perform for their parents.
Teachers, please enjoy working on it too, so the children can have fun singing!
