This is “The Legend of Ashitaka” from Studio Ghibli’s feature-length animated film Princess Mononoke, a work that stands proudly as a heavy and grand orchestral piece in its own right.
Studio Ghibli began as a feature animation production company with the release of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind on March 11, 1984, and Princess Mononoke is its tenth film.

The orchestral performance was by the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, and this was also the first time a permanent professional orchestra, rather than an ad hoc ensemble, was employed.

Hiromasa Yonebayashi of Studio Ghibli adapted Joan G.
Robinson’s children’s novel “When Marnie Was There” into an animated film, and the piece “Anna” that plays in the movie also has a piano version.
It is memorably performed by an orchestra in scenes such as when Anna and Setsu are preparing lunch and when Marnie and Anna say their goodbyes, but as a piano solo it feels delicate and heartrending, conveying Anna’s emotions beautifully.

KAREN of the twin-vocal unit LUV K RAFT hails from Yasu City in Shiga Prefecture.

LUV K RAFT drew attention in 2016 with the ending theme for the TV program “Kyuuun!”, and in 2019 they provided theme songs for the anime “When the Flower of Courage Blooms: The Story of Takashi Yanase and Anpanman” and the film “Koukoku Gaisha, Danshiryō no Okazukun.” Their total social media views exceeding 100 million exemplify what makes them a next-generation unit—one that controls both sound and visuals themselves.

Inspired by ancient Egyptian deities, it offers an irresistible gothic worldview.

Shunsuke Nakamura, also known as the second lead actor in Fuji TV’s Asami Mitsuhiko series, hails from Kusatsu Town in Gunma Prefecture.
While he’s best known as an actor, he’s actually active as a singer as well.
He began his music career in 1997 with the single “Shikai Ryōkō” (Clear Visibility) and has performed J-pop songs that reflect his sincere personality.
In 2000, his song “Ai” (Love), for which he wrote the lyrics, was selected as the ending theme for the TV program Takeshi no Dare Demo Picasso.
It became a turning point that brought his singing to a wider audience.
