Miho Karasawa, the artist performing under the name TRUE, has had a long-standing and devoted following.

She debuted as a singer after working as a gravure idol, and later began her artistic career under the TRUE moniker as well.

“WILL” is one of her signature songs, released as the theme for the popular anime film Violet Evergarden the Movie.

The lyrics portray a resolve to spend a lifetime with someone precious.

The melody is moving too, so be sure to give it a listen.

The Nakano Quintuplets of First Love

If you’re currently nursing a one-sided crush, you might especially relate to this.

It’s a song used as the ending theme for season 2 of the anime The Quintessential Quintuplets, based on the manga by Negi Haruba, and it’s sung by the voice actresses who play the main heroines.

Their voices are adorable, but the arrangement and melody exude a quiet sorrow that tightens your chest as you listen.

It’s a tear-jerking love song that conveys the wish to someday tell you my true feelings.

Teru's Song Teshima Aoi

This is an insert song from the Studio Ghibli film Tales from Earthsea.

It was released in 2006 as Aoi Teshima’s debut single.

It’s a simple piece with vocals and piano, and as you listen, it leaves you with a feeling of loneliness.

I’m not sure whether it’s Teshima’s voice or the piano’s tone that makes you feel that way.

And yet, when I’m feeling down and listen to this song, it somehow heals me.

I think there are very few songs like this.

Devil's Child Higuchi Ai

The weight of the words lined up in the lyrics stirs my tear ducts.

It’s a song by singer-songwriter Ai Higuchi, released as a single in 2022.

It was used as the ending theme for the anime Attack on Titan.

The way it unfolds from a melancholic opening into a grand, expansive sound sends chills down my spine.

If you’re grappling with deep concerns—like not understanding the meaning of life—it will almost certainly resonate with you.

Please take your time and savor it.

My Only Placesphere

This song is the ending theme of the TV anime “Matoi the Sacred Slayer.” Sphere is a super girls’ unit consisting of four female voice actresses: Minako Kotobuki, Ayahi Takagaki, Haruka Tomatsu, and Aki Toyosaki.

The anime tells the story of Matoi Sumeragi, a second-year middle schooler working part-time as a shrine maiden, who borrows the power of the gods to exorcize evil spirits in order to restore her peaceful everyday life.

The earnest way Matoi is portrayed in the anime, combined with the song’s lyrics about “walking toward the light of tomorrow,” makes it a moving track.

It’s the theme song of the film “Summer Wars.” The lyrics, filled with a resolve to protect you forever, are striking.

Tatsuro Yamashita’s rich, warm vocals are truly soothing.

Perhaps I’m influenced by the film itself, but it’s an anime song I want to listen to in the summer.

I felt it carried a wish for the future to move in a positive direction.

It’s the ending theme of the anime “Strike the Blood.” It was included on the 2015 album “Tsukinami.” It’s a grand ballad with the warm, resonant tones of the cello.
