GATE — Like the Dawn —Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets

Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets - GATE ~So, Like the Dawn~
GATE ~Like the Dawn~ Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets

This track is by Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets, a band led by composer Kishida—who also writes songs for artists like LiSA and Minori Chihara—and also a doujin music unit.

It was used as the opening theme for the anime “GATE: Thus the JSDF Fought There,” based on Takumi Yanai’s fantasy novel.

To convey the anime’s image, a shout is included after the chorus.

The later release “GATE II ~Beyond the World~” was also used as the opening theme for the anime’s second season.

Reason Living / SCREEN mode TV anime “Bungo Stray Dogs” 2nd cour opening theme song (TV anime Bungo Stray Dogs / Yū Hayashi / Masatomo Ōta / Sukumo)
Reason LivingSCREEN mode

A song chosen as the opening theme for the second cour of the TV anime Bungo Stray Dogs.

Its fast-paced, powerful sound is striking.

Since the series is themed around literary figures, you can sense a particular attention to expression in the lyrics as well.

The Zero Sense10-FEET

10-FEET – The Zero Sense (Ending Theme Song of the Film 'THE FIRST SLAM DUNK')
The 0th Sense 10-FEET

You also get to hear “Dai Zero Kan” a lot on music shows and in commercials.

It’s the ending theme for the film THE FIRST SLAM DUNK.

The band 10-FEET, who created it, have said they wrote the lyrics with care so they wouldn’t spoil the story, while still fitting perfectly when played in the film.

It really does achieve both, doesn’t it? Also, although the sound is intense, the lyrics carry a hint of loneliness, which I think is another reason it’s so popular.

Heavenly Lantern is a song that celebrates the courage to keep moving toward your dreams.

It’s performed by sajou no hana, the rock band that Tatsuya Kitani is part of.

Written specifically for the anime Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? IV: New Arc — Labyrinth Arc, the melody reflects the series’ world and features a Celtic-inspired arrangement.

It also weaves in elements from various other genres, so give it a careful listen.

Naked HeroVaundy

Each word lined up pierces my heart.

It’s a song by singer-songwriter Vaundy, known for hits like “Hanakoi Uranai” and “Koi-kaze ni Nosete,” and it served as the lead track from his first EP released in 2022.

It was chosen as the opening theme for the anime Ranking of Kings.

The way the lyrics reflect the anime’s story, paired with the grand sense of scale in the arrangement—their harmony is outstanding.

And as you listen, you’ll find your tears start to flow naturally.

ALIVEClariS

ClariS “ALIVE” Music Video [TV Anime “Lycoris Recoil” Opening Theme]
ALIVEClariS

ClariS has produced numerous iconic anime songs.

The track they performed as the opening theme for the anime Lycoris Recoil is ALIVE.

The song drew attention for revealing the true faces the duo had kept hidden until then, and for their performance on a year-end music special.

There’s so much to appreciate: the beautiful music video, the hidden messages embedded in the lyrics, and more.

If you haven’t heard it yet, give it a listen right now! And of course, pay attention to their vocals and the sound, too.

OxT, with Masayoshi Oishi on vocals, is a unit originally formed to create anime theme songs, so many anime fans may already know them.

They wrote HOLLOW HUNGER as the opening theme for the anime Overlord IV.

Its opera-like musical style became a hot topic and has received high praise from anime fans overseas.

It’s an overall high-energy track, making it perfect for when you want to lift your mood.
