To new loversback number

Back Number’s classic “Atarashii Koibitotachi ni” (“To the New Lovers”).
For many years, they’ve continued to turn out hit songs with a consistent style.
Among their tracks, this is one I especially recommend: “Atarashii Koibitotachi ni.” True to form, Back Number’s signature approach is alive and well here, resulting in a moving ballad.
The song features a lot of falsetto that stands out for its delicacy and warmth, making it more of a pleasant listening experience than a powerful one.

Night DiverHaruma Miura

You really can’t help but admire the vocals of hyde from L’Arc~en~Ciel, who has led Japan’s rock band scene! He delivers everything beautifully, from rich, deep lows to clear, soaring highs.
In this song in particular, use a deep, resonant tone up to the chorus, and then switch to falsetto to take on the high notes in the chorus! It’s quite high, so there may not be many men who can hit those notes, but it’ll feel amazing if you can sing it!
Que sera, seraMrs. GREEN APPLE

This is Mrs.
GREEN APPLE’s seventh digital-only single, released in April 2023.
It was written as the theme song for the ABC TV/TV Asahi drama series “Sunday Night Is About…” The arrangement builds into a notably dramatic development from the middle section through the ending.
Vocalist Motoki Omori beautifully brings the song to life by switching among various vocal techniques and expressive styles—starting with the falsetto voice that is the focus of this piece—in response to that dramatic arrangement.
Be sure to listen closely to the subtle nuances and vocal delivery throughout the track.
If you’re aiming to become a singer or improve your karaoke skills, you’ll surely find a lot to gain!
LetterUru

Uru’s “Tegami” will be released as a digital single on August 13, 2025, and it was written as the theme song for the film “YUKIKAZE,” which opens on August 15.
It’s a song that highlights Uru’s signature delicate and beautiful falsetto.
When singing it, pay attention to breath control and the balance between low and high notes.
The opening A-melody and the section after the final chorus go down to around C3, so be careful not to let your pitch drop.
If you rely on your throat, you’ll end up carrying that throatiness into the higher notes, so aim to produce sound from the vocal folds throughout.
Try lifting your eyebrows and placing your voice gently in front of you to produce low notes.
Also, the chorus jumps suddenly into higher notes, so imagine resonating in your head and send the voice straight upward; that will make the falsetto come out more easily.
Ghost of the SeaKenshi Yonezu

This is a digital-download-only single by Kenshi Yonezu, released in June 2019.
It is also included on Uma to Shika, which was released as his 10th single on September 11.
The song was created as the theme for the theatrical anime Children of the Sea, produced by STUDIO4°C.
Yonezu is well known for his beautiful falsetto, and that gorgeous singing is fully on display here as well.
Even more striking to me personally, though, is the grand chorus, which seems to have been crafted by making full use of digital editing techniques.
Normally, when building such a thick chorus, you would record the same part multiple times, but in this track, that seems to have been kept to a minimum.
Instead, I suspect the chorus parts were generated from one—or perhaps a few—main vocal takes using pitch-editing processes.
By layering Yonezu’s highly expressive, warmly human voice through mechanical processing, the track achieves a wonderfully mysterious world of sound—a truly superb piece of sound design.

Resident of the EyeL’Arc〜en〜Ciel

A track that opens Kenshi Yonezu’s fifth album, STRAY SHEEP, released in August 2020.
In this song, falsetto appears for just a brief instant in the chorus phrase, yet that fleeting moment is highly effective in leaving a strong impression as a vocal expression.
The contrast with the powerful high tones used in the so-called D section is also wonderfully effective.
Because this flash of falsetto depends on smooth register shifts, it’s a technique you can only pull off if you’re truly skilled—nothing to say but “as expected!” I encourage everyone to practice it.
The key to singing it lies in how quickly you can release tension.
Imo-rai Imotuki.

Singer-songwriter tuki.
, known for her catchy musical style and high-level vocals, continues to gain popularity.
Many of you probably still remember her nationwide hit, the classic “Bansanka.” Among tuki.
’s songs, the one I especially recommend is “Aimo Raimo.” This track features soft falsetto throughout, making it perfect for anyone who wants to hear a warm, beautiful falsetto.
