Yukata Ondo
Yukata Ondo, sung by Masao Suzuki and Michiko Fuji, is a song used for Bon Odori dances nationwide.
It’s well-known at the Hibiya Park Marunouchi Ondo Grand Bon Dance Festival.
The choreography seems to vary by region.
The original release date is unknown.
It was released on CD in 1992, but the track appears to be difficult to obtain today.
Chick Tempo♪

With its bright, cheerful melody and friendly lyrics, “Hiyoko Ondo♪” has long been loved by children.
Paired with a theme depicting the adorable antics of little chicks, it sparks kids’ imaginations.
Since its debut in 2013 on NHK E-TV’s children’s program “Inai Inai Baa!,” it has been known as one of the show’s popular songs and was also included on that year’s best-of album.
Not only is it enjoyable for parents and children to share, it’s also a handy number used in kindergarten and nursery school events.
It helps children develop a sense of rhythm and expressive skills, letting them feel the joy of music as they dance—making it a perfect song for summer festivals as well.
Purunpurun Ondo

This is the bon dance song from the puppet show “Purin Purin Monogatari,” which aired on NHK starting in 1979.
In the broadcast, it was used as an insert song and as the ending theme.
The lyrics, which encourage everyone to share happiness, fit well with the story of the protagonist Purin Purin searching for her homeland and flying around the world with her companions.
Dinosaur Ondo

You could probably say that all boys love them—dinosaurs! This is a cute and fun bon dance song whose lyrics are packed with dinosaur names and traits.
Some kids might already know a lot, but this could be the spark that gets others interested in dinosaurs.
With its relaxed rhythm, even very young children in preschool or kindergarten can enjoy it.
Don’t worry about precise choreography—why not have everyone dance together, smiling and lively?
Soran Bushi

Its origins lie in songs sung by fishermen during their work from Aomori up to Hokkaido.
If you explain the meanings—like rowing the boat on the scaffold or hauling up the nets—children can picture those scenes and dance to them, making it more enjoyable.
In the “boat rowing” and “net hauling” parts, it’s also fun to have them stand with a firm, grounded posture before dancing, so they can better imagine real rowing or net hauling.
It’s a perfect song for summer festivals and Bon Odori.
Fireworks OndoYukio Hashi

When it comes to quintessential summer traditions, fireworks immediately come to mind.
The enka song “Hanabi Ondo” by Yukio Hashi beautifully captures the elegance and sentiment of fireworks.
Its rhythmic melody and lyrics that evoke the ambiance of a summer night are sure to light up listeners’ hearts with the sparkle of fireworks.
“Hanabi Ondo” was released on November 29, 2006, as part of the single of the same name.
It’s one of the fine songs created as Hashi continues to captivate fans as a leading figure in the enka world, and it’s a perfect track for summer festival background music.
If you have a chance to attend a fireworks display, be sure to give it a listen.
It will surely remain in your heart along with joyful summer memories.
