Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1–10)
Nausicaä of the Valley of the WindNarumi Yasuda

The true theme song of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
What do I mean by “true theme song”? It wasn’t used in the actual film at all.
You might think, “How can that be a theme song!?” but in reality this track was only used for promotional purposes.
A must-listen for Ghibli aficionados! By the way, the singer, Narumi Yasuda, is the wife of Tunnels’ Noritake Kinashi.
Distant DaysJoe Hisaishi

Nausicaä was a girl who, from a young age, held values that were a little different from those around her.
This song evokes the sadness of being rejected when she tries to protect the insects and the frustration of not being able to save them in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
Many people may remember it because it is strikingly sung in the voice of a small child in the film.
Battle between a Möwe and a CorvetteJoe Hisaishi

Möwe is the name of the flying device that Nausicaä rides.
In German, it means seagull.
Many people probably admired Nausicaä as she stretched out her legs, glided through the vast sky on the Möwe, and rode the wind.
Corvette is likewise the name of an aircraft that appears in the film.
It has four wings and a distinctive shape with pointed tips.
This is the background music used in the battle scene featuring the Möwe and the Corvette.
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind — OpeningJoe Hisaishi

This is the opening theme of the film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, titled “The Legend of the Wind.” The composer is Joe Hisaishi.
He went on to score later Hayao Miyazaki works as well, becoming an indispensable presence in Studio Ghibli films.
It is a poignant melody tinged with melancholy, evoking the wind sweeping across the desolate lands of a world laid waste after scientific civilization was destroyed by war.
To a faraway land...Joe Hisaishi

The subtitle is “Nausicaä’s Theme.” This song title is also the name of the soundtrack album and serves as an image piece for the film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
It’s a grand symphonic work that begins with the striking intro of “Nausicaä Requiem.” Hats off to Studio Ghibli (though they weren’t yet operating under the Ghibli name) for undertaking such a fully-fledged classical soundtrack for an animated work.
Kiki's Delivery Service (11–20)
A refreshing song that makes you feel a pleasant breeze!
A big red ribbon is her trademark! Kiki’s Delivery Service is the story of Kiki, a cute witch in training. This film also features many memorable songs, but above all, the theme song sung by Yumi Arai is especially famous. Let me introduce this refreshing classic that perfectly matches the film! Kiki's Delivery Service (1–10)
A Town with an Ocean ViewJoe Hisaishi

One of the insert songs from the Studio Ghibli film Kiki’s Delivery Service.
It’s used in the scene where the protagonist, Kiki, takes off from the freight train and lands for the first time in the seaside town where the story is set.
It’s a striking piece of music, so I imagine many people are fond of it.
If I'm wrapped in kindnessYumi Arai

This is the song “Yasashisa ni Tsutsumareta nara,” released when Yumi Matsutoya was still known as Yumi Arai.
It came out in 1974, but it remains a karaoke staple and is still sung in schools—one of the most popular songs among Studio Ghibli themes.
Its memorable lyrics and stylish, free-spirited sound continue to captivate listeners!
