Western songs that high school students like. Classic and popular hits from overseas.

I’ve put together a collection of Western songs that you’d hear at least once a day somewhere around high school! Even if you don’t usually listen to Western music, I’m sure you’ve heard these tracks at least once.

Take this opportunity to listen to songs beyond Japanese music—something might spark inside you!

Western songs loved by high school students: Classic and popular international hits (71–80)

Cool KidsEchosmith

Echosmith – Cool Kids [Official Music Video]
Cool KidsEchosmith

It’s a 2013 track by the American indie pop band Echosmith.

Many people can probably relate to the lyrics, which seem to speak for the younger generation’s desire for everyone to be cool.

You might also find yourself hooked on vocalist Sydney’s distinctive, slightly husky voice.

American IdiotGreen Day

Green Day – American Idiot [Official Music Video] [4K Upgrade]
American IdiotGreen Day

This might be a bit mismatched for high schoolers too, but the lyrics’ touch of irony pairs perfectly with the refreshing vibe of the track, making it really catchy.

It’s one of their signature songs that makes you think, “Maybe I should listen to a bit more Green Day.”

This is a collaboration between British singer Taio Cruz and American rapper Travie McCoy.

Just the title alone is enough to get you pumped.

Listening to Taio’s fiery vocals and Travie’s cool rap on your way to school is sure to blow away your morning drowsiness.

Were All In This TogetherHigh School Musical

High School Musical Cast – We’re All In This Together (From “High School Musical”)
Were All In This TogetherHigh School Musical

This is the song that appears in the final scene of High School Musical, which aired on television in 2005 as a Disney Channel Original Movie.

If you recreate this scene—where everyone dances in the gym of the high school that serves as the story’s setting—at your own school’s dance event, you might add yet another memory to your album.

Head Above WaterTheory Of A Deadman

Theory of a Deadman – Head Above Water (LYRIC VIDEO)
Head Above WaterTheory Of A Deadman

This is a song by a popular Canadian hard rock band who were discovered by Nickelback and made their major-label debut.

Although the track is included on the soundtrack of a hugely popular Hollywood movie, it isn’t very well known and remains a hidden gem.

I think high school students will also enjoy its refreshing melody and the vocalist’s powerful voice, so I recommend it.

Cartoon HeroesAQUA

Perfect for summer and guaranteed to lift your spirits, a uniquely refreshing Western pop song would be “Cartoon Heroes” by the Nordic dance-pop group Aqua.

The duet between the cute female vocalist and the gravelly-voiced male vocalist is striking.

I think it would make summer high school baseball even more fun and exciting.

TiredAlan Walker ft. Gavin James

Alan Walker ft. Gavin James – Tired
TiredAlan Walker ft. Gavin James

When it comes to Western EDM tracks that blow away the fatigue of extreme heat, this song—a collaboration between popular DJ Alan Walker and Gavin James—fits the bill.

I think it will bring a refreshing boost to summer high school baseball.

Its beautiful chorus is especially captivating.
