Songs from Kiki’s Delivery Service. Anime theme songs and insert songs. Studio Ghibli’s famous tracks (1–10)
DepartureJoe Hisaishi

A song that plays in the scene where Kiki sets off, leaving the town where she was born and raised for the first time.
An air of elegance permeates the entire piece.
The first half has a fresh, exciting feel, but as it progresses toward the latter half, a sudden sense of poignancy stands out.
It beautifully captures a first departure where excitement and anxiety coexist.
Magical WarmthAzumi Inoue

This is a piece for which Joe Hisaishi rearranged a track he composed as an insert song for the film and added new lyrics.
It’s “The Warmth of Magic,” included on the Kiki’s Delivery Service Vocal Album.
It’s a very gentle song that seems to encourage Kiki as she faces the hardships and doubts of traveling on her own.
“The Warmth of Magic” was also released as a single.
Message of RougeYumi Arai

The opening theme of Kiki’s Delivery Service.
The film begins with a beautiful sequence: the protagonist, Kiki, sets off on her broom, and when she turns on the radio during her journey, this song starts to play—making it a very memorable piece.
The song itself was released well before the film’s premiere, but thanks to the movie’s impact, it became a hit again at the time.

Message of RougeYumi Matsutoya

Yumi Matsutoya’s classic “Rouge no Dengon.” Its nostalgic melody evokes a distinctly Showa-era feeling, doesn’t it? Released in 1975, the song was later used 14 years on, in 1989, as the opening theme for Studio Ghibli’s film Kiki’s Delivery Service.
The vocal range is somewhat wide, from mid1 F# to hi D#, and while the pitch rises and falls fairly intensely toward the end of the chorus, the overall tempo is relaxed and the song builds wonderfully—hence our decision to feature it this time.
The town I long forMAI&YUMIKO-Chan

This soothing, laid-back tune that heals the heart is “Town of Longing.” The original piece is “The Flying Delivery Service,” used in the film Kiki’s Delivery Service.
The children’s voices suit the song’s world perfectly—they’re just irresistibly cute! But the lyrics are actually quite poignant.
That contrast really tugs at the heart.
It’s also a great recommendation for an elementary school choir piece!
Kiki, Busy as a BeeJoe Hisaishi

This piece is “Kiki on a Busy Day,” used in the film Kiki’s Delivery Service.
Don’t you feel Kiki’s busyness just by listening? I think the expression “running around in a tizzy” fits perfectly.
Even on a gloomy morning commute, listening to this track might make you feel like a Ghibli protagonist and help you get through the day! It’s a song where the bright tone of the piano is beautifully showcased.
On a sunny day...Joe Hisaishi

This is the piece that plays in the scene where Kiki finally arrives in the big city after many difficulties and begins working at the bakery.
Though it’s only flute and violin, it’s a profoundly evocative, melancholic masterpiece that skillfully blends a waltz-based classical style with Joe Hisaishi’s originality.
The key change in the latter half seems to capture the adolescent emotional swings of rejoicing and despairing over the smallest things.
