The term “Black music” doesn’t refer to a single genre; it’s a collective term for music genres that developed from Black culture, such as R&B, soul, and hip-hop.

This time, we’ve picked out the latest tracks in Black music.

In recent years, genres across the board have diversified, and Black music is no exception—it has become a complex blend of various styles.

She previously attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in the U.

S.

, and her track-making—highly refined in a way that reflects that background—stands out.

Her new song is “Superpower ft.

D Smoke.” It’s an alluring piece featuring a laid-back neo-soul track and vocals that are soulful yet tinged with a touch of ennui.

It shares a musical sensibility with Erykah Badu’s work from the 2000s, so if you like her, this is a must-check release.

For fans of Black music, GIVĒON is an irresistible singer-songwriter with a strikingly deep voice.

When he was featured on Drake’s track “Chicago Freestyle,” his breathtaking vocals became a hot topic, earning him worldwide popularity.

Rapidly rising as a singer-songwriter, GIVĒON released “Heartbreak Anniversary” on March 21, 2021.

As the title suggests, it’s a song themed around heartbreak, making it a recommended listen for anyone who has recently gone through a breakup.

Red RoomHiatus Kaiyote

Hiatus Kaiyote, a neo-soul band from Australia once dubbed “the hardest band in the world to get tickets for,” has gained global popularity with their high-caliber neo-soul sound.

From their album Mood Valiant—released six years after their previous work—the lead single is Red Room.

Its subtle, creeping strangeness rising up from the ground undeniably reveals a new side of the band.

If a catchy, danceable track like Nakamarra represents “motion,” then Red Room embodies “stillness.” It’s a song you’ll want to hear while comparing it with their other tracks.

SlowdanceMndsgn

Even within the broad label of Black music, the styles are incredibly diverse.

Some tracks reflect very strong jazz influences, and among them, Slowdance stands out as a particularly sophisticated piece.

The vocalist is Munson, a Los Angeles–based singer who also works as a music producer.

Thanks to that, the production is exceptional—here, smooth jazz and R&B are mixed in a beautifully balanced way.

If you’re looking for Black music with an adult, stylish vibe, be sure to check it out.

Sam Henshaw, an R&B singer from South London.

South London has a large Nigerian immigrant community and is one of the world’s hotspots for the development of soca and reggae.

While Henshaw’s main arena is R&B, his sound carries the exotic flavors of genres like soca and reggae.

Even in his new track, “Chicken Wings,” you’ll hear many African-inspired elements that set it apart from typical R&B.

If you enjoy the musical sensibilities of artists like D’Angelo in the 1990s, this might be irresistible for you.

MANGO feat. Adeline & MasegoKAMAUU

MANGO feat. Adeline & MasegoKAMAUU

Among the works introduced here, the one I personally recommend is KAMAUU’s “MANGO feat.

Adeline & Masego.” If you’re into Black music, you probably recognized his roots right away.

Although he hasn’t stated it outright, I’m pretty sure he’s been strongly influenced by D’Angelo and Bilal.

With slow jams being the trend lately, it’s unfortunate that we don’t see much authentic neo-soul like this anymore.

I’m hoping KAMAUU can spark a new neo-soul revival.
