A gem of a song that gently resonates deep in the heart, where KAITO’s calm vocals and Ken’s soft, warm voice intersect dramatically.

Released by hinayukki in June 2022, this piece strikingly portrays the tender desire to protect a loved one even as one’s own existence fades away.

without even blinkingMiyuki Nakajima

When it comes to masterpieces that sing of life’s resolve, this is the one! Released in October 1998, it’s Miyuki Nakajima’s 36th single.

Chosen as the theme song for Yoji Yamada’s film “Gakko III,” it added profound emotion to the story.

Set to a dramatic band sound, it portrays a powerful will: standing at a crossroads in life, steeling oneself and fixing one’s gaze on the future.

The determination to never look away for even a moment and to etch each precious instant into one’s heart is so earnest it almost hurts, tightening your chest.

You can feel the protagonist, who shakes off all hesitation and looks only forward, gently giving you a push from behind.

It’s a song that becomes a reassuring ally whenever you’re about to start something new.

mild days Sheeps in the Light (Hitsujibungaku)

Hitsujibungaku is a three-piece female band, and it seems that vocalist Moeka Shiozuka mainly writes the lyrics and composes.

The new song “mild days” also features beautifully tight harmonies! What seems like the B section might actually be the chorus, but from there she sings an octave higher, layering softly, and the atmosphere shifts all at once.

She also sings upper harmonies while taking the line an octave up, so at first you might not notice and end up singing the whole thing an octave higher.

But if you practice carefully while listening closely to the vocals, you’ll pick up the knack quickly! The song is also on the shorter side at about three minutes, and the repeating melody makes it easy to memorize.

Taro Hakase: MATSURI Suite “NIPPON”

It’s a passionate, large-scale piece where the timbres of the shakuhachi and shamisen blend with a grand orchestra.

The way it builds heat from quiet passages is like a Japanese festival shifting from a solemn ritual to a lively celebration.

Just listening makes your heart naturally dance and your spirit soar.

This track is included on Taro Hakase’s album “JAPONISM,” released in August 2013, and was also selected as a campaign song by Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Japan Tourism Agency, helping to showcase the appeal of Japan.

It might be perfect when you want to get fired up and dive into something, or when you want to refresh your mood with expansive music.

MY HONEYBOØWY

A BOØWY track that grabs your heart with a buoyant shuffle beat.

The lyrics, which sing of a bashful, bittersweet crush, pair exquisitely with Kyosuke Himuro’s sensual vocals.

Featured on the album “INSTANT LOVE,” released in September 1983, the song later reappeared as a single in April 1988, just before the band’s breakup—making it a deeply cherished work for fans.

There’s also an intriguing anecdote that when it was first performed live, the lyrics were unfinished, offering a glimpse into their creative process.
