Recommended “yami songs” for men (11–20)
astral projectionSyrup16g

Syrup16g, famous for their “depressing” band image.
They rarely have cheerful songs.
Among them, this is my recommendation.
The fluffy, floaty melody, and vocalist Igarashi’s slightly husky voice.
The music video also tells a story of jumping off a building, so it’s pretty dark.
It is hollow.Yura Yura Teikoku

Yura Yura Teikoku is a band famous for alternative psychedelic rock.
Some of their lyrics may seem incomprehensible at first, but once you listen, you’ll be hooked.
Even the title “Kudo desu” (“It’s a void/It’s hollow”) is suggestive, isn’t it? With a slow rhythm, it sings of a man’s heart.
It was used in Sion Sono’s film Love Exposure.
Moon DropsKo Shibasaki
It was used as the theme song for the movie “Yomigaeri,” starring Tsuyoshi Kusanagi.
The singer is Kou Shibasaki, but she performs under the name RUI.
The song expresses feelings for someone who has passed away and can no longer be met.
Watching the movie brings out a different set of emotions when you listen to it.
Sake, Tears, Men, and WomenEigo Kawashima

This is a socially conscious masterpiece that portrays the subtle miscommunications between men and women and the nuances of emotional expression with deep insight.
It warmly observes how men open up through drinking and women through tears, each revealing their inner feelings.
Born from impressions Eigo Kawashima had at age 18 during a family memorial gathering, the song was included on the November 1975 album “Jinrui” (Humanity) and released as a single in June 1976.
Also known as the jingle for the sake brand Kizakura, it became a major hit, reaching No.
9 on the Oricon weekly chart.
It is a gem I recommend to anyone who wants to face their heart honestly when confronted with life’s sorrow and poignancy.
AtonementMasashi Sada

This song is well-known, isn’t it? The lyrics are based on a real experience of a woman I know.
They express the feelings of not knowing how to accept an apology from the person responsible after she lost her husband in a traffic accident.
It also seems the offender is a very sincere person and has been sending compensation without fail.
am4:00BURGER NUDS

BURGER NUDS mostly have dark songs.
Many of their tracks are themed around the night.
The singing style is languid, yet the voice is somehow captivating.
Their choice of words in the lyrics is outstanding.
They disbanded in 2004, but they’re still popular among fans of gloomy/depressive songs.
Recommended depressive songs for men (21–30)
FlowerASA-CHANG & Pilgrimage

I feel a bit of fear from the lyrics, the singing style, the tone of the song, and the music video alike.
It was the ending theme for the anime “Flowers of Evil.” There are still various speculations about the music video, and I don’t really know what meaning it actually holds.
It’s better not to watch it at night.
It’s scary.
