Shunji Ozaki

I started playing guitar at 15, aimed for big stages but fell short, moved to working behind the scenes, and still couldn’t make a full living—so I’m a side-jobbing creator.

Even if I can’t fully make ends meet, I’m happy that I’ve been able to keep working in music without interruption up to this age.

I specialize in MIDI, music theory, and chord theory.

• 35 years of experience in guitar, bass, keyboards, songwriting, composition, and arrangement • 30 years in recording and producing.

I like bands or artists (mainly Japanese) that aren’t bound by conventions, with a sparse sense of harmony—and that aren’t commercially successful.

Currently, I’m the principal double bassist of an orchestra.

I’m also the bandleader and producer for a Hamamatsu-based project that’s about to get moving.
