cherry blossoms at nightAldious

A song by Aldious, a metal band that leads Japan’s girls’ metal scene with flashy costumes and top-tier musicianship.
It pairs the imagery of nighttime cherry blossoms with metal—an unlikely combination—but the result is a superb track where a robust metal sound carries melodies rich with the kind of wistful emotion beloved in Japan.
The classical, melodic twin-lead guitar harmonies featuring tapping are pleasing to the ear, making this a night-cherry-blossom song we’d recommend even to those unfamiliar with metal.
cherry blossomDA PUMP

The single released after the smash hit “U.
S.
A.”—which took the world by storm and swept every award—was this song, “Sakura.” Until “Sakura” came out, all of DA PUMP’s single titles were written in English, except for their 21st single, “Mune Kogasu…”.
That alone shows how much the members poured into this track.
The lyrics, with a spirit like “living with the heart of the cherry blossom—symbolic of the Japanese soul—close to your chest,” are staunch and evocative of the ancient Yamato spirit.
You can almost see cherry blossom petals glowing translucently in the light of a lantern.
The lyrics are also sprinkled with words that evoke quintessential Japan, making them poetically beautiful.

cherry blossoms at nightLOONIE

It’s included as the second track on their debut single “Haru Urara Rurara,” released in 2006.
The three-member unit was formed by MC PASSER and drummer YUICHI from Mach 25, which disbanded in 2004, together with vocalist RYO.
It’s a perfect party song for going wild all night.
Just be careful not to go overboard!
DepartureSCANDAL

The four-member girls’ rock band SCANDAL released “Departure” in 2014.
This song is the first for which the members handled both lyrics and composition, and it’s a love song that conveys a faint, bittersweet feeling that tightens the chest.
She’s likely thinking of the boyfriend she broke up with and will never see again; the memory of viewing the night cherry blossoms left an especially vivid impression on her heart, and every time she sees those blossoms, every time that season comes, she’s reminded of him.
The title “Departure” carries meanings like “setting out from where you are” and “departure,” which conveys her intention to bring closure to her own heart.
Hanami VenusThe Do-Nuts

This song, Hanami Venus, by The Do-Nuts—a girls’ group from Okinawa that unfortunately disbanded in 2008—was released as a single in 2007.
It’s such a catchy cherry-blossom song that it feels pretty rare to find one with this much groove (lol).
If you use it as background music for a hanami party, it’s sure to get everyone hyped, don’t you think? With playful, sing-along lyrics, it’s a track that lifts your spirits.
It’s definitely a song I’d love to hear during a nighttime hanami.
Kid, I Like QuartetUNISON SQUARE GARDEN

It’s the opening theme for the OAD “Yozakura Quartet ~Hoshi no Umi~,” which came with volumes 9–11 of the Yozakura Quartet manga and was included on the 2011 album “Populus Populus.” The song, themed around the four emotions—joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure—carries UNISON’s signature sense of speed along with a message about treasuring the feeling of love.
There are times when your style gets dismissed, or when daily life just doesn’t go your way and you get frustrated—but don’t those feelings blow away before you know it when you’re listening to your favorite track? Listening to “Kid I Like Quartet” might help you be honest with your own joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure.
It’s a song you’ll want to listen to while dashing through rows of night-blooming cherry trees!
March of the Chimaera and PhantomsUVERworld

This song, “Chimimōryō March,” is packed with everything that makes UVERworld so compelling.
The term “chimimōryō” in the title refers to all sorts of monsters and ghosts.
It’s a track that powerfully conveys the feelings of someone who can see ghosts, riding on a hard-rock edge and a sense of speed.
The song is included on UVERworld’s 18th single, “MONDO PIECE,” released in 2011, and it’s a fan favorite that always hypes up the crowd at live shows.
Though it’s a song about ghosts, the image of night cherry blossoms also heightens its bewitching allure.
