Parody song medley. Classic Japanese hits and recommended popular songs.

I gathered and reviewed the original songs that are often used for parody lyrics in TV commercials and comedy routines.

Besides their popularity, there are clear reasons they get chosen—catchy rhythms and tempos, phrase structures that make it easy to insert alternate lyrics, and more.

Originally a song by Southern All Stars with vocals by Yuko Hara, it was later covered and sung by Mizue Takada, becoming a hit.

The Checkers’ biggest hit.

They had idol-like popularity, but they also had real talent as a band, with strong quality and vocals.

He was also a fashion leader.

TULIP “Kokoro no Tabi” (Lyric Video)
Kokoro no Tabi (Heart’s Journey) - Tulip

Tulip’s timeless classic released in 1973.

It became a big hit again when Eisaku Yoshida covered it in 1990.

The song was written and composed by Kazuo Zaitsu, but it was sung by Tatsuya Himeno.

Later, Zaitsu himself covered it, and it continues to be sung today.

[Official] Akina Nakamori / “Tears Aren’t Just for Show” (Live in ’87: A HUNDRED days at Tokyo Kosei Nenkin Kaikan, 1987-10-17) AKINA NAKAMORI
Tears Aren't Just for Show by Akina Nakamori

It’s well known that this is a hit song by Akina Nakamori with lyrics and music by Yosui Inoue.

While Nakamori had always been praised for her vocal ability, this song marked her evolution from an idol into a true singer.

Yosui Inoue’s self-cover version is also excellent.

Playback Part 2Momoe Yamaguchi

One of Momoe Yamaguchi’s best-known signature songs.

It’s a track loved across generations, still used in commercials today.

With distinctive lyrics like “Don’t make a fool of me—it’s your fault” and “Boy, just what have you been taught?” Yamaguchi delivers a cool, composed performance.

My lover is Santa ClausYumi Matsutoya

My Baby Santa Claus / Koibito Ga Santa Claus (2022 Mix)
Lover Is Santa Claus by Yumi Matsutoya

A classic Japanese Christmas song.

Surprisingly, despite its great fame, it was never released as a single.

It was featured in the film “Take Me Out to the Ski Slope” (Watashi o Ski ni Tsuretette).

Many artists have covered it, making it a famous song that not only fans but practically everyone has heard.

Rizo RavaBakufū Slump

Bakufu Slump Rizo-Lover Resort Lovers
Rizzo Rubber Explosion Slump

Starting right from the chorus with “It’s all a lie~,” Rizo-Lover (short for Resort Lovers) captures a fleeting summer romance at a resort set to a poppy, summery sound, then portrays the heartbreak of returning to reality with striking realism.

Though they might be mistaken for a comic band, they’re actually a group with very high musicality.
