A progressive house classic. The latest anthem floor hits.

Progressive house is a derivative of house music that developed in the 1990s primarily in the UK and other European countries, and today it’s recognized as a subgenre of EDM.

At its inception, the term began to be used among influential producers to describe experimental sound-making and attempts that diverged from the methods of the original house music.

Its sound is close to trance and melodic house & techno, and it remains persistently popular.

In this article, we’ll carefully curate and introduce classic and popular tracks!

Prescience (Alex O’Rion Remix)André Sobota

PREMIERE: Andre Sobota & Felipe Novaes – Prescience (Alex O’Rion Remix) [Clubsonica Records]
Prescience (Alex O'Rion Remix)André Sobota

Prescience, a track by Brazilian musician Andre Sobota from São Paulo.

At first it sounds like a simple four-on-the-floor tune, but you can’t help being surprised by its distinctive sonics—like, how did he even arrive at these sounds? It may give a generally understated, progressive house-like impression, but within that, the development is quite pronounced and the structure is easy to follow.

It’s the kind of track where every sound seems to signify something, revealing more depth the more you listen.

Also, the nine-minute length is quintessentially progressive house.

Law of Attraction (Original Mix )Dezza Zerothree

Dezza – Law Of Attraction (Zerothree Exclusive)
Law of Attraction (Original Mix )Dezza Zerothree

A track released in 2018 by house musician Dezza.

It opens with a striking, reverb-drenched piano tone and centers on a tight, jittery beat and arpeggiators, evoking even a classical atmosphere.

The dynamics are excellent; despite the lack of flashy developments or timbres, its dramatic progression is beautiful, making it a piece that flows naturally into the ear without effort.

Hang Up Your Hang Ups (The Only One) [feat. Kim English] (CamelPhat Remix)Paul Woolford, Kim English

Including its video, this is a track by the producer Paul Woolford that carries a grand sense of scale, with artwork that’s quite striking as well.

Over a basic four-on-the-floor beat, the rich, choral-like female vocal refrain sticks in your ears, and the interplay of the synthesizer arpeggios is particularly interesting.

It’s a house number you’ll definitely want to enjoy on a good sound system.

Abyss (Original Mix)Cid Inc.

An uncompromising passion for cutting-edge modern progressive house.

“Abyss,” produced by Cid Inc, is surely one of those tracks.

Henri, the Swedish producer who works under the name Cid Inc, began making music in the early 1990s.

After being based in Sweden for a while, he eventually moved to Finland and focused on producing house and techno.

The sounds of The KLF, Underworld, Future Sound of London, and Aphex Twin inspired the development of his current style.

Airborne (Original Mix)Guy J

A track that unfolds gradually from DJ Guy J’s looping beat.

The percussive sound choices are distinctive, and the steadily advancing, slowly building arrangement makes for a dramatic listen.

In the second half, the sound becomes lush—quite a turn from the opening—and, unlike the simpler first half, it’s packed with a progressive feel.

It’s a song you’ll want to hear down to the very last second.

Radiate (Original Mix)Yotto Anjunadeep

This track, with its striking synth sequence phrases, is by Yotto, a Deep House music producer from Helsinki known for releases on Anjunadeep.

This song is also sprinkled with Deep House flavor and progresses with a stoic four-on-the-floor.

In fact, the term “progressive house” can mean two things: either flashy, EDM-style house or forward-thinking, experimental house—and this track is the latter.

All I Want (Oscar L Remix)Chus & Ceballos

Chus & Ceballos Ft. Astrid Suryanto – All I Want – Oscar L Remix
All I Want (Oscar L Remix)Chus & Ceballos

All I Want, a track by the Spanish DJ duo Chus & Ceballos.

A four-on-the-floor beat and hi-hats ride over a minimal, repeating bassline.

The piece gradually applies effects to this established framework, introducing various sounds as the music progresses.

It maintains a controlled, restrained approach, essentially keeping the core progression intact.

Even so, subtle dynamics build, and the steadily rising heat from the effects work and the choice of sounds is truly impressive.
