Father’s Day Songs in Western Music: Ranking [2025]

I think Father’s Day is a chance to say things we usually can’t tell our dads.

It might also be nice to try talking about things you don’t normally discuss.

I’ve gathered lots of songs that can make a Father’s Day like that a little more fun.

This is a song by George Michael, the British singer-songwriter also known as a member of the music duo Wham!.

It’s included on his 1987 solo debut album, Faith.

The airy, languid vocals and a simple yet deeply resonant sound are striking.

The lyrics include the message, “I will be your father figure.” While it’s more of a love song to someone dear than a song directed at a child, it’s a perfect and wonderful track to listen to on Father’s Day.

Eric Clapton handled the soundtrack for the 1991 film “RUSH.” Released as its theme song was the classic “Tears in Heaven.” The song was dedicated to his son, who died at the age of four and a half; creating it is said to have helped Clapton overcome his grief and return to making music.

It’s a Father’s Day–perfect ballad that conveys the deep love of a father.

When people think of Indian films, the first images that come to mind are often romance and flashy dance numbers.

Contrary to that preconception, however, a serious sci-fi film that drew attention in some regions was the 2018 release Tik Tik Tik.

Without getting into specific plot details here, I recommend listening to the theme song Kurumba (Father’s Love), especially with the fact in mind that the son of the protagonist played by Jayam Ravi is portrayed by Jayam Ravi’s real-life son.

If possible, why not enjoy the film together as a family as well?

The song that marked Elton John’s first entry on the singles chart.

Until then, he had been working as a songwriter and studio musician.

It is one of the first songs he wrote with Bernie Taupin.

A classic that has been used across various media, including the 2001 film Moulin Rouge.

Cat Stevens – Father & SonYusuf13rank/position

Yusuf Islam is a British singer-songwriter who once performed under the name Cat Stevens.

Father & Son, included on Tea for the Tillerman, is known as a classic that portrays the generational conflict between a father and his son.

The lyrics, which plainly express a father’s love and a son’s desire to follow his own path, convey the depth of the parent–child bond.

Although it wasn’t a major hit at the time of its release, Boyzone’s later cover became a success.

In recent years, it has also been used as background music in Marvel films and TV series, and it continues to be loved across generations.

If you give it as a Father’s Day gift, it’s sure to convey a heartfelt “thank you.”

The song Jax released in 2021 is a heartwarming track that explores true love, inspired by the loving relationship between her parents.

The ideal love she seeks is patient, gentle, and grows stronger with time—like the love her father showed her mother.

From small gestures of affection to building a relationship rooted in mutual respect and understanding, and finding joy and humor in everyday life, it thoughtfully portrays a sustainable form of love.

Filled with deep gratitude and admiration, it’s a perfect listen when you want to express your love to someone special.
