claw marksThe Birthday

The lyrics woven with regret and Yusuke Chiba’s voice come together to create a song steeped in melancholy.
“The ginkgo grove was still green; I thought summer would last forever.” Even just that part is already heartbreaking.
It’s bittersweet, but it’s such a cool track that I highly recommend it.

Thus Spoke Zarathustra, and othersDonkey Quartet

A four-member band formed in 1964 by Yasushi Ono after leaving The Drifters.
They had high musical quality and earned popularity among adults with a classic music-comedy style that mixed in gags.
Leonardo Kuma, holding the upright bass in the back, was not a member.

MEIKO from Vocaloid3 is on vocals.
The guitar and drum performance exudes a Japanese-style horror atmosphere, and MEIKO’s eerie voice matches it perfectly—it gave me goosebumps.
I discovered “Tsukikage Onsen-gai” on Niconico Douga.
Not only the song, but the video also has character and is interesting.

Please give me wingsJunko Yamamoto

Junko Yamamoto, who was active as a singer-songwriter, is from Tenkawa Village in Yoshino District, Nara Prefecture.
Her signature song, “Tsubasa wo Kudasai” (Please Give Me Wings), has been included in elementary school music textbooks for over 30 years.
Although the song is by the band Akai Tori, it is effectively a self-cover, as Yamamoto performed as the vocalist of Akai Tori.
UnluckyTakako Okamura

A track from the album “libert?”.
It’s a song drenched in sorrow, voicing the lament of a protagonist who seems to have fallen into a negative spiral where nothing goes right.
The classical, faintly exotic, melancholic melody line is outstanding.
Though just one cut on the album, it remains a fan favorite with enduring support.
