Colder than the seaof the screw

It makes you feel as if you’ve wandered into a dream.
“Colder Than the Sea,” by Vocaloid producer Nejino, is a track released in February 2025.
The contrast between the light, piano-driven pop sound and the shadowy lyrical world keeps you hooked.
It feels like someone is digging up memories you had tucked away deep in your heart.
The innocent quality of Seikai’s vocals might be one reason for that.
It’s a Vocaloid song with a mysterious charm that has you listening through to the end before you even realize it.
will be fine feat.AnlyThe Gospellers

A ballad whose beautiful harmonies resonate in the heart.
Adorned with a splendid vocal ensemble, this piece has been selected as the ending theme for the TV anime “Takaoka Taka’s Medical Mystery Case Files,” airing from January 2025.
The Gospellers and singer-songwriter Anly gently convey, with their exquisite voices, the journey of walking alongside someone dear and the importance of supporting one another.
It’s a song that stays close when you want to gaze toward the future with someone.
UraraVickeblanka

A timeless piece that brings a refreshing sense of spring arrived from Vickeblanka in April 2018.
While it handles a serious theme, its brisk sound centered on acoustic guitar and its straightforward, Showa-kayō–inspired message resonate pleasantly.
Delicately portraying the innocence of a first farewell while instilling hope for new encounters, this gentle song has comforted many listeners.
As his major-label debut single, it drew significant attention and received high praise from various quarters.
It’s a song I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone parting with friends, starting a new chapter, or wishing to preserve cherished memories of the spring season.
It feels like fate.Gray Slumber

Its delicate emotional expression and sound design shake the listener’s heart.
Released by Nemuri Haiiro in February 2025, this work leaves a strong impression with Nurse Robo Type_T’s earnest vocals.
The lyrics, themed around obsession, love, and betrayal, unfold a story where sweet words intersect with brutal passions.
The protagonist’s quiet descent into madness is vividly portrayed within a transparent, lucid melody.
On a lonely night, or whenever your heart trembles, this song will be there to keep you company.
Elegy of the Uji RiverKaori Kouzai

Kozai Kaori’s masterpiece “Ujigawa Elegy” is striking for its deeply moving melody.
Kozai Kaori is often said to excel most in works that evoke sensuality and heartache, and this piece is exactly that, featuring an incredibly sultry melody and vocals.
In the chorus, the pitch rises and falls a bit more dramatically, but there are no difficult kobushi (ornamental turns).
Aside from the kobushi at the end of the chorus, the vocal line is closer to Showa-era kayōkyoku.
Be sure to add it to your repertoire.
duckweedKaori Kouzai

Kaori Kozai is known for her sensuous, silky vocals, but she actually has a wide expressive range and has released some powerfully impactful songs as well.
Among them, the one I especially recommend is Ukinegusa.
The opening employs a Western-style, forward-projected vocal technique rarely heard in enka, giving it a dramatically different atmosphere from her other works.
While the vocal line is full of intensity, it also contains surprisingly mellow passages, and most of the long tones sit at mid-range or lower, making it relatively easy to sing for a song of this type.
UDAGAWA GENERATIONSakurazaka46

This is a bold new endeavor from Sakurazaka46, marked by a lyrical world that vividly portrays modern youth’s yearning for freedom.
Set in Udagawacho, Shibuya, it powerfully expresses the emotions of young people confronting society’s restrictions and prejudices.
While staying true to themselves, they also search for coexistence with others—a theme depicted with care—and combined with the members’ expressive performances, the work resonates deeply.
Scheduled for release on February 19, 2025, this is their 11th single, with Hikaru Morita serving as center.
A collaboration with Tower Records has also been confirmed, including the distribution of a newly shot free magazine featuring Morita and three other members.
It’s a recommended track for anyone feeling anxious about society or the future, or searching for a place where they belong.
