[Thank You Always] Western Songs I Want to Give on Father’s Day (21–30)
Your SongElton John

The song that marked Elton John’s first entry on the singles chart.
Until then, he had been working as a songwriter and studio musician.
It is one of the first songs he wrote with Bernie Taupin.
A classic that has been used across various media, including the 2001 film Moulin Rouge.
Father And DaughterPaul Simon

Paul Simon is the Simon from the legendary American folk duo Simon and Garfunkel.
In 2019, reports of his death circulated, but it seems they were false, and he is actually still alive (as of May 2019).
The song Father and Daughter was the theme song for The Wild Thornberrys Movie.
It’s a song about the bond between a father and his daughter—perfect for Father’s Day! If you want to move your dad to tears, try singing it for him!
Cat’s in the CradleHarry Chapin

Though not widely known in Japan, Harry Chapin is highly regarded in his native United States not only for his talent as a musician but also for his energetic philanthropic work.
This is his biggest hit song.
Released in 1974, it reached No.
1 on the U.
S.
Billboard chart.
It’s also well known for being covered by the American rock band Ugly Kid Joe in 1993, becoming a revival hit.
From the title “Cat’s in the Cradle,” you might wonder, “Where’s the father element?” But through skillful turns of phrase and metaphors, it’s a folk-style piece that narratively portrays the relationship between father and son as if telling a story.
Give it a listen while thinking about the deeper meaning of the lyrics together with your dad.
Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)John Lennon

Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy) is a song included on the last album John Lennon released before he died.
It’s dedicated to Sean, the only son born to him and Yoko Ono.
John also had another son, Julian, from his previous marriage, but after John’s death, Yoko clashed with Julian in court over letters John had written to him and issues related to the inheritance.
Thinking about those things brings up complicated feelings, but there’s no doubt it’s a great song.
It’s one of Paul McCartney’s favorites, too!
Growing Up (Sloane’s Song)Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ed Sheeran

This song was inspired by the feelings he experienced when he first became a father, after Ben “Macklemore” Haggerty’s fiancée, Tricia Davis, gave birth to Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty in 2015.
It features a chorus that captures Ed Sheeran’s emotions.
Papa Loves MamboPerry Como

Perry Como was an artist who enjoyed great success from the 1950s to the 1970s, standing alongside legendary jazz vocalist Frank Sinatra as an entertainer.
Known for his extremely catchy musical style, the songs he released at the time were all major hits.
“Papa Loves Mambo” is one of those hit numbers.
Its lyrics carry a kind of double meaning: on one hand, a joyful image of Dad and Mom dancing the mambo together; on the other, a sad theme in which, under the banner of mambo, Dad and Mom go their separate ways.
Since it’s Father’s Day, the former interpretation is more than enough, I think (haha).
Stealing CinderellaChuck Wicks

A song inspired by Chuck Wicks’s girlfriend, who worked at Disney World in Florida.
It was written by Chuck along with songwriters George Teren and Rivers Rutherford.
Released in 2007, it became a hit.
