Dance songs by Western girls' bands (21–30)
BoyfriendTegan and Sara

Tegan and Sara is an indie pop band formed by twin sisters Tegan and Sara Quin.
“Boyfriend” is a 2016 release.
With a poppy, bright sound that evokes the electropop of the 1980s and ’90s and a sense of déjà vu, it’s the perfect track for humming along and stepping lightly.
Take It OffThe Donnas

The Donnas are a rock band from the United States.
They made their major-label debut in 2002 with the album “Spend the Night.” The band has four members, and their sound is rooted in hard rock.
This work was released in 2005 and is a straight-ahead hard rock ’n’ roll number.
Our Lips Are SealedThe Go-Go’s

The Go-Go’s, an American all-girl band that was also popular in Japan in the 1980s.
They’ve had other hit songs, but “Our Lips Are Sealed” is one of their early hits.
Their lively, wholesome antics in the music video are adorable.
Released in 1981, it was the Go-Go’s debut single.
Fairytale in the SupermarketThe Raincoats

The Raincoats are a band known as the legendary original girls’ post-punk group.
Their huge presence is evident in the high praise they received from John Lydon of the Sex Pistols and Kurt Cobain of Nirvana.
On this work, their uniquely distinctive world—unlike any other band—bursts forth, with exquisitely relaxed vocals and a warped, distorted sound.
Cherry BombThe Runaways

The Runaways were a girls’ rock band active in the 1970s.
They were especially popular in Japan.
Their 1977 track “Cherry Bomb” is their signature song.
The provocative staging with vocalist Cherie Currie performing in lingerie is still striking even today.
Guitarist Joan Jett went on to succeed as a solo artist.
typical girlsThe Slits

“Typical Girls” is their debut single, notable for its punk-meets-dub sound.
Released in 1979.
The strong dub influence comes from having dub master Dennis Bovell as producer.
A sound like this performed by an all-female lineup was quite innovative for the time.
Edge Of A Broken HeartVixen

Vixen is a band from the United States.
They’re a girls’ band born from the miraculous combination of solid musicianship and the fact that every member is strikingly beautiful.
When you listen to their guitar solos, you might feel that dividing musicians into male and female categories is meaningless.
