BEHEMOTH – Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer (Official Music Video)

Hailing from Poland and formed in 1991, Behemoth is an extreme metal band that now boasts such popularity that they headline festivals around the world.

With a unique sound that fuses elements of black metal and death metal, they continue to captivate metal fans across the globe.

Their 2014 album The Satanist became a major hit, charting on multiple album rankings.

While their provocative lyrics and controversial performances sometimes spark debate, their musical prowess is widely acclaimed.

Their live shows—featuring flamboyant costumes and special effects—are nothing short of breathtaking.

Even as they pursue an extreme musical vision, their lyrics, which incorporate Polish history and mythology, are sure to draw in not only metal fans but a wider audience as well.

One, Two, Three, GO!Belanova

Belanova is an electropop band from Mexico.

As one of the country’s representative pop bands, they started with a more orthodox pop sound and now mainly release electropop tracks.

Among their songs, the one I especially recommend is “One, Two, Three, GO!” This track portrays a straightforward, passionate woman boldly trying to catch the attention of someone she likes.

The depiction of such daring advances—quite different from typical Japanese cultural norms—is unique, so be sure to check out the Japanese translation as well.

OversteppingBelmont

Formed in 2014 by members who were still in high school, Belmont is a band from Chicago, Illinois drawing attention in the current pop-punk revival.

Their self-titled debut album, released in 2018 via Mutant League Records, made it into the Billboard 200 despite being an independent release.

Beyond the melodic hardcore-style speed and pop-punk catchiness, their meticulously crafted band ensemble—built around surprisingly technical guitars and busy, intricate drumming—delivers a level of polish you wouldn’t expect from such a young group.

Their sound, shaped by the flexible sensibilities of young musicians influenced by hip-hop and prog, is seriously cool.

The band has since signed with Pure Noise Records, home to many popular acts, and in March 2022 released their second album, Aftermath, which broadened their musical range even further.

If you want to know what’s happening “right now” in pop-punk and melodic hardcore, Belmont is a name you’ll want to remember.

Benny the Butcher, a rapper signed to the New York label Griselda.

He’s one of the leading figures in New York’s underground scene.

The rising Griselda star he’s paying attention to—and who appears with him on this project’s “One Foot In”—is Steve God Cooks.

This work aptly portrays the relationship between the music industry and the underworld in hip-hop, making it a fitting underground release.

Signed to the long-standing label Hopeless Records, which boasts nearly 30 years of history, Melbourne, Australia’s Between You & Me are one of the most promising frontrunners of the next generation of pop punk.

Their energetic, pop-punk-packed 2018 debut, Everything Is Temporary, was released in Japan to high praise, leading to a successful Japan tour.

In 2021, they dropped their second album, Armageddon, and some listeners might have been surprised by the pre-release single Supervillain.

With its mid-tempo, more power-pop-leaning sound than straight pop punk, it struck me as the moment their pop sensibilities truly exploded.

The album Armageddon is likewise loaded with a diverse array of top-tier pop songs.

While it may feel a bit underwhelming to those expecting pop punk or melodic hardcore, I highly recommend it as a standout record that every lover of great melodies should hear!

The new song by Detroit-born rapper Big Sean is a heartwarming piece themed around love and lessons for his son.

Showcasing his distinctive flow and lyrical prowess, the track touches on life’s challenges and social issues while expressing the pure feelings of a father.

Released in August 2024, the song is set to be included on his fifth studio album.

Since his debut in 2011, Big Sean has delivered a string of hits and won numerous awards, including MTV Video Music Awards.

It’s a recommended listen for anyone who resonates with lyrics about family and loved ones.
