Up-tempo Western music. Lively tracks (121–130 BPM).
Goodbye ElenoreTOTO

This is an early work by Toto, known for hits like “Africa” and “Rosanna.” It’s often said that the band name TOTO comes from the Japanese toilet manufacturer, but that seems to have been lip service they offered in appreciation to their Japanese fans after breaking big in Japan, rather than the band’s true origin.
Good VibrationsThe Beach Boys

This is the Beach Boys’ biggest hit.
Their outstanding choral work really shines.
It’s said they spent 90 hours recording and then edited it down, finally producing a three-and-a-half-minute master tape for this three-and-a-half-minute song—clear proof of their tireless effort.
Lady MadonnaThe Beatles

It’s a hit number by the Beatles.
Among their many up-tempo songs, I chose this bright and comical one.
The opening piano is modeled after a British jazz number, and the saxophone solo in the interlude involves the renowned player Ronnie Scott—making it a song with many jazz-related anecdotes.
Video Killed A Radio StarThe Buggles

This song was also the first music video ever aired on MTV.
Judging by the title, it’s a rather ironic and aggressive choice.
By 2000, it had been broadcast on MTV over one million times.
The song has also been used in Japanese TV dramas.
Up-tempo Western music. Lively/fast-paced songs (131–140 BPM).
FlatheadThe Fratellis

A song released as a single from the Scottish rock band The Fratellis’ 2006 debut album, Costello Music.
The women in the music video are all sexy, and the track is catchy and cool.
One of their early signature songs, it was also used in an iPod commercial.
VacationThe Go-Go’s

This is a signature song by the American girl band, The Go-Go’s.
They were the first all-female band to reach No.
1 on the U.
S.
album charts.
However, due to conflicts among the members and issues with alcohol and drugs, they soon broke up.
CenterfoldThe J. Geils Band

The song title “Centerfold” refers to what in Japan is called a magazine’s sealed center spread.
You can also guess the content from the Japanese title “Fallen Angel.” This track became their biggest—and only—hit.
They may be a one-hit wonder, but it spent six consecutive weeks at No.
