Acid jazz is a music genre that was born in the UK in the 1980s.

Many of you have probably heard the name.

However, since acid jazz blends various genres into jazz, the vibe can differ greatly from track to track, so I imagine few people can instantly recall its melody.

This time, I’ve picked out some classic acid jazz tracks for those people.

There are plenty of lesser-known songs as well, so even those who regularly listen to acid jazz will find recommendations here!

Real LoveDrizabone

They released the album “Conspiracy” in 1994.

After a long period of silence, they returned in 2010 as Drizabone Soul Family and released the album “All the Way.” “Real Love” is Drizabone’s signature track and was a go-to song for DJs at the time.

Hold OnBLUEY

This is a solo track by BLUEY, the leader and producer of Incognito.

While it retains a warm, danceable sound, the tight programmed drums and bass give it the feel of a dance track.

It has a coolness that’s distinct from a live groove, and the balance of the vocals is lovely.

MambitoSnowboy

This is acid jazz with a slightly unconventional form that evokes a South American vibe.

The finely played percussion creates a cheerful groove.

With its instrumentation and rhythmic approach, it may represent one expression of acid jazz that has evolved through the fusion of jazz with other genres.

It’s stylish jazz-pop you can listen to with ease.

It feels like perfect BGM for early mornings or late-night cafés.

Rather than a heavy groove, it’s enjoyable for its smooth song development and flowing performance.

Acid jazz covers a wide range, so it’s nice to have styles like this as well.

Now Is The TimeD*Note

Released the album “Babel” in 1993.

Although they debuted amid the early-’90s acid jazz movement, the band drew attention for a sound that could also be said to be influenced by jazz figures such as Miles Davis, Bill Evans, and Keith Jarrett, as well as classical composers like Maurice Ravel.

The CatJimmy Smith

Jimmy Smith, an American jazz organ player.

It’s acid jazz with a playful groove over a blues progression.

You can really tell how enjoyably he’s playing the lead on the organ.

The call-and-response horn section is also extremely powerful, offering the kind of punch that only a big band can deliver.
