You know those dull, overcast days when the sun never peeks through? This time, I’m putting together a selection of classic Western songs perfect for those cloudy days.

From tracks that suit the gray weather to refreshing tunes that lift your spirits, I’ll introduce a variety of songs.

Western music classics to listen to on a cloudy day (41–50)

This Is A LowBlur

Blur – This Is A Low (HD)
This Is A LowBlur

A track written by Damon Albarn.

It was inspired by the Christmas gifts he bought and the weather in the UK.

Released as a single in 1995, it was selected by NME for “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.”

Because Of YouNe-Yo

Because Of YouNe-Yo

A masterpiece by Ne-Yo where catchy vocals fuse with house music to weave a refined sonic world.

The melodious looping piano creates a gently floating feel, perfect for setting a refreshing daytime mood.

Summer RainBelinda Carlisle

Belinda Carlisle – Summer Rain (Official HD Music Video)
Summer RainBelinda Carlisle

This is the second single from Belinda Carlisle, an American singer who gained popularity in Europe.

As the title suggests, the song evokes summer rain—not a purely sad track that only conjures up rain, but a sound that also feels fresh and breezy, like a passing summer shower.

It gives the impression of a girl honestly singing her feelings, doesn’t it? The highlight and defining feature is the string section.

The light, refreshing, and pleasantly rhythmic session is a must-listen.

A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna FallBob Dylan

Bob Dylan has had such an impact on modern music that it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call him the progenitor of singer-songwriters.

When he was active, the world was in chaos, and by singing about politics and war, he brought people together.

“A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” is a song that recounts the horrors of war from the perspective of a father who has gone to the front, as told to his son.

It’s arranged with only acoustic guitar and vocals, delivered in a restrained manner, yet its lyrics, laden with symbolism of the events, give listeners space to reflect.

Some say the “hard rain” in the song refers to “whizzing bullets” or “spurts of blood.” It’s a song that prompts deep thought about peace.

Raining In My HeartBuddy Holly

Buddy Holly, known as a pioneer of rock ’n’ roll.

His black-rimmed glasses and suit look so stylish, don’t they? A lot of people have probably heard his name because it’s also the title of a song by Weezer.

This is a song called “Raining In My Heart.” Buddy Holly’s dapper vocals paired with the sound of strings make it feel so romantic.

Sad feelings have long been associated with rain, haven’t they? In this song, too, it’s expressed as, “The sun is out, the sky is blue, there’s not a cloud in sight, but it’s raining in my heart.” It was recorded in the ’50s, but isn’t it amazing how relatable it still is today?

Distant SunCrowded House

Included on the 1993 album “Together Alone.” A four-piece rock band from Melbourne formed in 1984.

With its upbeat, breezy rhythm and the melancholic tone of the acoustic guitar, this song has a memorable melody that makes you want to listen to it while taking a walk.

It’s RainingDarts

It’s a song with strikingly sentimental, self-deprecating lyrics.

Musically it’s in a major key, but what it sings about is things like “I’m drowning in misfortune,” “It’s raining, and I’m sinking, I’m dying, I’m crying.” It must be that sadness keeps raining down in the heart.

True to the title “It’s raining,” I feel the song depicts the very moment when one is in a painful, heartrending situation, with tears falling like rain.

Listening again while savoring the lyrics, I realized that although the tune is in a major key, it still carries a sense of emptiness.
