Classic Western songs to listen to on a cloudy day (71–80)

Outside the RainStevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks – Outside The Rain – Live 1983 US Festival
Outside the RainStevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks, an American singer-songwriter.

She’s a vocalist whose weapon is her voice with an enigmatic allure.

Once you start listening, there’s a strange feeling that you’ll keep the song on to the end, regardless of whether you like it or not.

This song, too, gives an exclusive, coolly distant impression through its lyrics, yet they don’t feel heavy—instead, they convey a kind of serene, “well, so be it” acceptance.

What I GotSublime

Sublime – What I Got (Official Music Video)
What I GotSublime

Included on the 1996 album “Sublime.” A three-piece punk band from California formed in 1988.

The melody, carried by a mid-tempo, gently unfolding rhythm and the tone of an acoustic guitar, evokes the image of a sunrise.

Listening to this track makes me want to “tighten my shoelaces” and start walking.

RainThe Beatles

This song, which was the B-side to the 1966 single “Paperback Writer,” isn’t particularly well known, but it gained popularity among fans as an experimental recording.

The backing track was recorded at a faster-than-usual tape speed, while the vocals were recorded at a slower speed, and some sections were even reversed, making it a highly unconventional track.

Perhaps thanks to these effects, it turned into a strange song that evokes the muddled state of mind brought on by a low-pressure system of rain.

Here Comes The SunThe Beatles

Included on the 1969 album Abbey Road.

A four-piece rock band from Liverpool formed in 1960.

This song is a number composed by George Harrison.

The lyrical guitar sound that evokes sunlight in a warm nook and George’s whisper-like vocals make for an exquisitely light and breezy listen.

Included on the 2004 album “Singles.” A four-piece rock band from Scotland formed in 1990.

The acoustic guitar’s tone is refreshingly pleasant to the ear, and with its mid-tempo rhythm and unfolding pop melody, it’s a number that makes you want to step lightly as you listen.

It Will Rain LyrickBruno Mars

Bruno Mars – It Will Rain (Lyrics)

Bruno Mars is often associated with funky party songs, but his ballads are great too.

It Will Rain is a sad breakup song in which the protagonist senses a looming separation and, while accepting it, suffers from the pain of heartbreak.

He uses the weather as a metaphor for the changes that will come from losing his lover, saying, “If you leave, no sunlight will ever reach me again.

” If it happens to be raining on the day of your breakup, give this song a listen.

Rainy Days And MondaysCarpenters

Carpenters – Rainy Days And Mondays

Speaking of songs about rain, this is the very first one that comes to mind.

Across times and places, when it comes to melancholy, it’s rainy days and Mondays.

On Monday mornings when I just don’t feel like going to work, I can’t help but hum this tune.

Everyone feels that way sometimes, right?
